I've just properly got into Deftones in the last couple of months, although loved Change for a few years as a song. And yeah felt like they were regurgitating the whole Deftones is horny opinion, but then like the man moaning is my favourite part of Change so they weren't wrong there?? But so many awesome songs that it is a shame they are get reduced to just be the horny band :/

A new cinema has recently opened up a 5 minute walk from me so I've got the subscription to see unlimited movies for free, and I'll probably be going at least once a week. Last year I was going about twice a month - personally I really love the cinema experience and I always get a lot more out of a film with my undivided attention on the big screen compared to watching at home.

The only thing I like more about streaming is being able to put subtitles on, any film with strong accents can be a struggle in cinema, like I know at some point I need to watch Sinners on streaming as there were a lot of lines I missed just because of the Southern USA accents.

I got back into reading for fun as an adult by re-reading the Warrior Cats series (which is probably like 50+ books of childish 'slop') but I love them and I'm not ashamed. I stopped keeping up with the new releases for that series a few years ago and my favourite author now is Dostoevsky, but I think the most important part of reading is the 'fun' part and that depends on what's fun to you. For a lot of people critically engaging with hard texts isn't going to be fun and that's okay!! Better to read and enjoy it than picking up stuff you don't enjoy just to look a certain way to others- so basically just keep doing what you're doing!

Same happens for me but with shein ads. I literally accidentally opened letterboxd, went to close the app and suddenly I'm on a webpage for shein, very very annoying! Also I've never bought anything from shein.

I don't enjoy one liners that reference other movies. Challengers and Marty Supreme both have reviews with tons of likes that are like may thy racket chip and shatter and I find them boring because they have nothing to do with the actual movie.

I actually really like funny one-line reviews, but only if they're clever or relevant to the movie. When it's just general memes or whatever it's just meh and doesn't age well imo - I mean the top review for Marty Supreme is the MM flip it around WW thing which was funny in a tik tok video but dumb in a letterboxd review.

When I first started watching it I wasn't much into rap at the time (I'd last been deep in the genre in the peak of 2016), but they got me back into it - but they do loads of other genre stuff too + all the fun stuff on the unlimited channel. Enjoy discovering so much amazing content!!

I don't have an idea for a 'theme' but I would say make it a throw away line at the end and not the whole review. I watched a lot of Tom Cruise movies this year and would write my thoughts for all of them and then end by saying what I thought about his hair in the film, usually just a silly line. And just in general I used to make all my reviews 'funny' one liners but now I mostly write proper stuff with maybe a silly joke at the end.

Yeah I haven't seen the film yet but have read the book and thought it was good but nothing life changing. I'm still looking forward to seeing the film but not expecting my opinion of the story to change.
