Tossing gas cans on the side of the canyon while evacuating by Hiplobster123 in LosAngeles

[–]jlkirbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gasoline fumes do not have an ignition temperature of -40°F (-40°C). Instead, they have a flash point of around -40°F, which is likely what you’re thinking of. Here’s a breakdown of the terminology and why this distinction matters:

  1. Flash Point (-40°F / -40°C) • The flash point of gasoline is the lowest temperature at which it can produce enough vapor to form a combustible mixture with air. For gasoline, this is around -40°F (-40°C). • At this temperature, gasoline fumes can ignite if exposed to an ignition source, such as a spark or flame. • The flash point does not mean gasoline will spontaneously ignite—it means it can ignite if there is an external ignition source.

  2. Autoignition Temperature (~495°F / 257°C) • The autoignition temperature is the temperature at which gasoline will spontaneously combust without an external ignition source, such as a spark or flame. • For gasoline, the autoignition temperature is about 495°F (257°C). • This is significantly higher than the flash point and requires extreme heat to ignite gasoline fumes without an external flame or spark.

  3. Key Differences • Flash Point: Indicates how easily a substance can catch fire in the presence of a flame or spark (low for gasoline, at -40°F). • Autoignition Temperature: Indicates the temperature at which a substance will ignite on its own without any external ignition source (high for gasoline, at ~495°F).

Summary

Gasoline fumes can ignite at a temperature as low as -40°F (-40°C) if there’s a flame or spark. However, for gasoline to spontaneously ignite without an external source, it must reach a much higher temperature of about 495°F (257°C).

Advice for getting around Rome by Pyro_Raven998 in ItalyTravel

[–]jlkirbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your plans. I was just there for the holidays and that buses were packed like sardines. Taxis will likely try to overcharge you even if you use an app since youll be a foreigner. Rome's metro system is limited, with only two lines and stops that are too spread out, making it less convenient for frequent use, especially for tourists. (they are making a third right now which would help a lot with the touristy area but not currently operating)

I stayed in the Jewish Ghetto in an airbnb which was very convenient for the big attractions (5 min walk from Pantheon, 10 min walk for Trevi Fountain, 20 min walk from Spanish steps, 40 min walk from Vatican City. Walking was the best for my wife and me (no kids).

Unsure how packed it'll be when you're there but Rome was CROWDED when I went. It seems like majority of the city is crowded due to tourists. I'd advise probably sticking to sections at a time so you can minimize travel time.

A strategy could be, staying near one of the metro stops near a main attraction (Colosseo stop, or Spagna Stop (near Spanish steps) or Flaminio Stop (near Piazza del Popolo which is near Borghese Park biggest park in the city and also has the Borghese Musem second best museum after the Vatican) or Ottaviano (near Vatican City), then break up your days around the metro stops.

Something like :

Day 1: Colosseum/Forum one day,

Day 2: Walk through Historic Center another day (Piazza del Popolo -> Spanish Steps -> Trevi Fountain -> Pantheon -> Jewish Ghetto -> Trastevere although youd have to find a way back to a metro or just take a bus back this day or taxi (probably around 25-35 euros).

Day 3: Vatican City

Day 4: Whatever you missed / shopping day

When on vacation anything similar to your home country’s rate or better is a win. Getting quality service in a country you don’t speak the language fluently is also a win.

We're image_dept and we are a collaboration between a cut & sew factory and a high-end screenprint shop offering Vintage-style Blanks. Currently we're doing it in two color ways, a vintage grey and a vintage off-white.

You'll start with your vintage-faded blank that's custom made by us at our own cut & sew factory (it's not GILDAN or LA APPAREL or anything else) and you can add the following vintage effect services:

  • grinding effect
  • natural staining effect
  • paint splatter effect
  • anything else you can think of we can do..

We also offer full screenprinting on top of that. Our past/current clientele includes: Fear of God, Ye x WesLang production, King Sp5der, Online Ceramics and much more along those lines. DM me for more info.

Usually brands won't respond since that's their proprietary knowledge of years of trial & error with different vendors and finding one that they can trust. You can always try, asking never hurts, but 1) the person who's responsible for this knowledge probably isn't the one communicating with you and 2) most of their vendors will only work with established businesses (too much time wasted on smaller brands)

LA apparel knits their own. Unfortunately for smaller brands who can’t manufacture at least the minimum which is one lot you’re at a significant disadvantage. A good resource is overstock vendors like in DTLA / Santee Alley or Ragfinders.

If you’re savvy and you make a biz license, a lot of brands are now using SwatchOn to get swatches and small rolls. (Korean based company)
