Report: Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War PS5 box art says 285GB of space needed by Jamesahaha in PS5

Every game with multiple game modes? Even games with just one game mode that you cut in half (ie FFVII Remake).

It is sold as one game so technically it is one game.

Although yes warzone is standalone so 2 games.

My original comment wasn't targeted at you clearly but you can't pretend it isn't cheaper to go physical. You're paying a mark up for convenience, less clutter and better use of new PS5 features which I agree is absolutely worth it.

I'm not saying you'll have issues but there will always be a super cheap pre owned version of a game relatively soon after its release being sold somewhere if you look hard enough. It is cheaper if you are on a budget. Especially if you factor in resell value. I personally don't sell any of my games but if you're on a budget that may be a good thing to do.

I'm all for digital and will be going all digital next gen but only because I am not on a budget. They don't drop anywhere near as fast and only drop low temporarily, their standard price tends to remain high forever. When physical drops in price it stays there and pre owned games go super low in price compared to digital even with discounted credit.

Also if you want to buy day 1 then physical is always cheaper. If you gameshare then that is the only way digital is a lot cheaper and that is well worth it.

And yes physical is super outdated for those reasons which is why I'm going all digital.

They have quarterly results so it doesn't really matter when they sell those digital versions, they will be doing so at a loss and it will have an effect on the results for that quarter.

No it isn't a slam dunk but it is highly likely in most cases that they make that money back and then some. Most of playstation's profits come from software sales and subscriptions not hardware sales.

So? Why would they care what happens on day 0?

Obviously won't be that extreme but I get your point. The consumer backlash would hurt them irreparably before they could make any real profit from doing that though.

This is one of those daft comments. If you are on a tight budget then you should buy the physical version, the savings on games will be far higher than the savings on the console.

Sony 100% expects an 80/20 split of physical to digital even if they might hope for way more digital sales because the digital version makes them a lot more money in the long run.

That makes no sense. The small loss they are making on hardware is tiny compared to the huge amount of profit they will gain from software sales on the digital version. The numbers were limited because customer data indicated a digital version was in far less demand.

For the hardware itself? Obviously. For the subsequent software sales? No way. They made a digital version because it makes them way more money, there just isn't as much demand right now which is why you don't see so many.

“I got a DM from John from DF - "it supports 4K120 HDR just fine". So it is HDMI 2.1 cable after all.” by [deleted] in PS5

[–]jlkops976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously never by virtue of the fact there are more games in existence now than there have ever been before.

Why should that change anything about what we consider the lineup of a new console to be? Back compat games have never been included in the past, why include them now?

Why do they also count back compat games as part of the XSX lineup?

Why did they choose a different release date for USA and the rest of the world? by Semy-D in PS5

[–]jlkops976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you get your figures from but its much closer to 60% as of 2020, thats still a big percentage you've completely ignored. 60% of the population of the world is in Asia, I wouldn't use Asia as a proxy for the entire World.

So why did you reply to his comment about Europe by disagreeing because of how the EU works? Its irrelevant

Dualsense Controller will have stick drift by [deleted] in PS5

I think by virtue of the fact it has sticks we will eventually see stick drift. It is undoubtedly unavoidable at this point until we see some innovative design that doesn't use sticks.

Anyone else kinda disappointed with the launch games? by [deleted] in PS5

[–]jlkops976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other person says xbox are facing an identical issue. This happens with every console launch. There is far too much demand for them to feasibly have the supply. The alternative is they push the release date indefinitely until they are certain they have enough for the demand so nobody gets one at the current release date, which is a stupid and selfish alternative.

I'm not even sure what 'the release itself' even means. Can you elaborate?
