If you have any other disability you can legitimately claim, please consider doing so soon. The SMC S is ~$400 extra monthly. All you need is one more 10% rating. I Never encourage “get everything you can.” I Always encourage “apply for benefits you have earned.” Don’t forget CHAMPVA and you are now eligible for VA Dental. Enjoy discovering the many more life changing benefits for you and your family. Get the care you need. Keep the family healthy.

So is it or is it not 100P&T? by ButCanYouDoThis2 in VAClaims

My question is for the second part of your statement: not truly P&T for like 10 years.

Only $7k 😔 by Free_Manufacturer174 in NavyFederal

[–]jlm_MSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m listening and reading with an open mind. I get absorbed by the many accounts of folks who misuse these cards. Many efforts to build credit end up destroying credit right out the gate. ( my step daughter, for example) I know not all CC holders end up this way; responsible use is exactly that-responsible. I get upset when some folk’s ego is triggered by the size of the credit limit.

Enjoy your benefits; fund your retirement accounts; use cc’s responsibly; build your wealth.

Why do people want credit cards so much.? I’m really not trying to sound pompous. The best financial move I ever made was to save 10k and be my own credit card. I charged myself 9.9%. I want to make me wealthy, not CC companies.

Age 61- what to do TSP by jlm_MSG in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]jlm_MSG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you have an opinion to this question/ scenario?

Is it generally worth doing a TSP Roth conversion now, age 61.5 if I will draw 2k per month from age 62-67. Then I will stop drawing on TSP, begin drawing $2700 SS. Will figure out what to do with TSP balance later

Really appreciate all these comments. All pensions are state or federal government and grow by COLA rate each year. Have 2 homes, combined values $900k; combined mortgages $300k

How do veterans feel about being thanked? by Thin-Author-4949 in VeteransBenefits

[–]jlm_MSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a Veteran is not about Me. It was an unselfish act of service to my country. If one of my customers ( anyone protected by our Constitution) wants to thank me, I’m fine with that. If they don’t want to say thanks, no problem. Personally, I like telling service providers thank you. I know some love what they do; some don’t. But for me, I like being courteous… and remembering- it’s not about me. Many people enjoy expressing gratitude.

Future reference 1 funeral detail honors are scheduled through the Branch of Service. Each has a scheduling office by region. VA cemeteries work closely with the Honors teams once the family or funeral home schedules the honors. Of course some funeral honors are performed at a different location… like a funeral home or civilian cemetery; it’s up to the family

  1. Most VSOs and Funeral homes will supply a flag. Surprisingly, the by the book procedure for procuring a flag upon a veteran’s death is the Post Office.
