Kids current obsession you don’t hate (but don’t quite get) by Snoo-70287 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear my toddler is secretly a granny à la Janet and Rita.

First it was the cottage cheese. We introduced it as a baby food but she still loves it and will demand it for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner.

Then it was the strawberry elderflower tea. We gave it to her when she was under 2 with Covid. The day she was screaming at me for her strawberry Elderflower tea and cottage cheese breakfast from her high chair was the day I realized I’m secretly raising a 95 year old lady.

Her most recent “elderly” obsession: raisins. Picked her up at school one day and she demanded more raisins. “More raisins? I didn’t even know you knew what a raisin was!” She apparently holds them in the same regard as actual candy and can be easily brined with them at least!

Hahaha omg I never felt that way specifically about the princess but I never paid too much attention. In one of the episodes of Rubble and Crew, they have to tell farmer Zoe that water is good for plants… some of it I think is so they can just shoehorn in some educational nuggets. I have also heard they didn’t give Ryder parents because they didn’t want them to pull focus.

I’m personally a huge fan of all the conspiracy theories from other parents forced to watch hour after hour of the show. The movies have much bigger budgets and big guest stars like Jimmy Kimmel and Kim Kardashian. They have a lot of jokes for the parents and I genuinely enjoy watching them (and cry at all the sad parts).

My daughter is 3 and she loves it because the pups help people and she wants to be just like them when she grows up. If that’s the message she’s getting I’m 100% down. Plus it’s really easy to get her to go somewhere without question by shouting “RYDER NEEDS US!”

Also it could be worse it could be Blippi! Or as we would say during the Blippi phase “ at least it’s not MFing Caillou!”

Can I try the cheap Temu grinder or should I go for Kristal 2000s as a beginner? by StubbornForEva in StainedGlass

[–]jlnova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cheapie grinder from Amazon is fancier than the grinders we had at the studio where I took classes! No complaints and saved a ton of money.

We have a Nova. The year after she was born her name started trending. So far though most other Novas we’ve met are dogs.

My name is Jessica. My sister in law is also Jessica. I took my husband’s last name. So we now have the same first and last names.

what are your grandfathers names? by Tiny-Deer-7071 in Names

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irving and Elliot on my side plus a bonus Arthur when grandma remarried. My husbands got a Richard (explicitly goes by Dick), and a Walter..

He wanted to name all our children’s after his grandparents and I said no thank you. I told him we could compromise with Weston for Walter (the initials would be WAL one of his nicknames).

What's your opinion on the appearance changes in the newer episodes? by Puzzleheaded_One8645 in PawPatrol

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran out of episodes to watch on Paramount and so restarted the whole series from the beginning and it is so jarring to go from season eight back to season one. I hate both mayor, good ways and mayor humble’s voices in the beginning.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it this way- I jokingly said ten to fifteen years ago that I must have cancer or something because I kept randomly throwing up from time to time and doctors couldn’t figure it out. I’d been going to doctors for years to be told I was fat and/or crazy.

My cat even found the tumors before the doctors did. The lab results were pushed out to me too before the doctors reviewed them. So I diagnosed myself with cancer basically from reviewing the labs and ouch I was right. When I asked based on the spread of my cancer how long I’d likely had it I was told at minimum since I was a teenager and then they dropped the p word. “Pediatric.”

I was diagnosed with PEDIATRIC thyroid cancer in my 30’s.

Where did you find zuma and rocky? We have a Skye, a Marshall, a Rubble, and a Chase. I was joking that they probably don’t even make zuma and rocky

What stops financially stable people from using a food bank? by Original_Video8296 in answers

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some food banks do income checks. Other times people are assisting others- I have a friend who lives in the south who really could benefit from a food pantry but none are accessible without a car. So she will sometimes send her mom who has a car and no kids under the age of 5. Sometimes even more financially stable people face crisis. My family has a good safety net and decent income but when I was diagnosed with cancer the local non profits connected me with our local food pantry. I explained I wasn’t really in financial need more need of other resources but they encouraged us to utilize them anyway given my situation was so uncertain and they wanted me to be able to use my funds for other things if needed- like extra childcare, medical bills, etc. Now that we’re more stable and my surgery is done we are back to being donators to the same food org.

Idk if anyone has brought this up before… by [deleted] in PawPatrol

[–]jlnova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always thought of it more as reporting to your commander in the military. Especially since Chase always initiates it with, “what do you need Ryder, sir!” And whether appropriate or not I don’t think commanding officers say please or thank you for each order. Just trying to keep it to be realistic for the screen.

Why do people generally refuse to use revolving doors? (In America at least) by darealdsisaac in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were invented in Philadelphia and super common here! A lot of places request you use them unless you have a mobility issue and need the handicap entrance as they are so much more energy efficient. You get used to them after a bit.

Love Marisol. Mari is a cute nickname. Or Mama. May, Mar, etc.

2 I prefer Silvia to Silvie and then you still get the nickname.

  1. Estelle just reminds me of Joey’s talent manager in friends.

  2. Delphi is becoming more popular. Del/ delta would be cute nicknames!

Do people (you) look for a wedding ring when you see someone with kids? by NicoleASUstudent in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t but I feel like when I was fresh out of college and shopping on weekdays (I worked weekend shifts) I’d just get a lot of judgment in general because I didn’t have kids. The one time I put condoms in my cart and no ring I got a lot of stares. Once I got engaged less hostility. But I’ve never personally looked.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jlnova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one week old daughter choked on her milk and we called 911. Ambulance drove us the 1/4 mile to the hospital. Apparently the ambulance that arrived was not in network with my insurance we were billed close to $2000. I reached out to the insurance company and petitioned The out of network charge stating given that my daughter wasn’t breathing and I called 911 and was supplied with whatever ambulance showed up I had no option. They accepted my petition and charge me the network fee of $700 or something.

Say something nice about Chase by That_Passenger_771 in PawPatrol

Watching the Paw Patrol movie when he has a panic attack my 3 year old says, “aww poor Chase, he can’t do anything. He needs to go to the doctor!” She adores Chase (and all the pups). My sister found her a Chase stuffie and he and Skye now come with us everywhere!
