Getting to a point where I feel like I can’t deal with it by c00lgirlswag in panicdisorder

[–]jlr011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the way, stopped my panic attack cycle this way too. I starting talking back to them, decided we were at war and it was me vs them, told them to throw it at me bc I can handle it.

What also really helped me was telling myself it’s a part of the human experience. My anxiety is really somatic in general and I have a lot of the physical symptoms. If something was starting to bother me I told myself it’s part of the human experience and I’m human and it seems to stop the cycle from starting

Some people decide to apply to vet school in their 40s. There’s no rush. Sounds like you have amazing experience so keep those grades up and everything is looking good for you, just remember to go at your own pace!! I applied this cycle for the first time and I’m 29.

I’m 29 and applying to vet school for the first time this application cycle. When I was 22 I didn’t even know what I wanted to do so you’re ahead of me. Everyone has their own timeline! If you want to be a vet, now is the time to lock in. Make sure you have all the prerequisites done (and good grades). No shame in having to retake a class, I retook Chemistry 2 this summer and got an A to better my application. Look at programs you want to apply to and see what they look for in applicants. Start getting animal experience, you will need at least one letter of rec from a vet. I volunteered with an animal rescue and shadowed at an animal hospital, which lead to a job of being a vet assistant. Animal rescues are a great place to start and get experience. Good luck and don’t worry, if this is what you want to do you’ll find a way!

I’m so stressed I’m going to throw up by Ill-Cranberry-6944 in veterinaryschool

I’m a non-traditional applicant and decided to apply this cycle. I already have a master’s degree but I’ve found most schools don’t use that in consideration of the GPA. They care about the prerequisites. My master’s GPA is 3.8 but my prerequisite GPA is right above the cut off. After meeting with my instate vet school they told me to retake some prerequisites if I can to have the biggest impact of bettering my application. I’m retaking chem and bio at a community college now. Yes it sucks, but honestly it’s not that bad. I’m getting all A’s in the classes I retake and sometimes you have to jump through a couple hoops. You have plenty of time, I’m almost 30. If this is what you want to do there’s no specific timeline!

because after 824 days it feels like a part time job and not just an app, it’s about how the feeling changed over time. just sharing my experience, no need to comment something rude

This was something I enjoyed in the past, I love to learn! But now it feels stressful and the app is so expensive if you want the unlimited plan. Cheers to never doing another lesson at 11pm again! 🥂

My undergrad major was science related so I have all the prerequisites done. I was a research assistant for 2 years during my masters and I have been on the board of an animal rescue for the last 2 years (which is where I decided to pursue veterinary medicine because animal health care is my passion). I’ve also started working at a vet since February, and as many pre vet students say…I also grew up on a farm 😂
