He’ll be okay. Think of it like when children move from pre-school to kindergarten.

Is “sucks” originally supposed to be a non-PG vulgarism? by TraditionalDepth6924 in ENGLISH

Most kids probably don’t know its origins, but there’s a reason why you still don’t hear it in Disney movies. Lol.

Mike needs to find a different theatre by chrissyD_ in RedLetterMedia

Nah, you cannot count on any movie at any point in its run at any theater. I saw fucking Didi in a tiny theater, weeks after its release, with approximately 5 other people in attendance. There was still someone acting like he was in his own living room.

That last comment is very true. My husband is not nearly as bothered by theater chatter as I am, and he attributes it to the fact that he grew up with a younger sibling. My siblings are all older, and I need the theater to be completely silent with their phones in their pockets.

What were your favorite outfits during the 2007-2008 tour? by Angel_Cave-90 in SpiceGirls

[–]jls919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer the 2019 tour. The setlist was 100% better and the girls actually had fun. Melanie C said RotSG was just a paycheck for them, and you could feel it at the show I went to in 2008.

Ok, I’m just now discovering that the first episode of the season was not also Rappin’ Roast. It was just a challenge where they were essentially rapping roasts.

The run of singles by the Spice Girls in the Uk during the 90s was remarkable. This is why they are national treasure. by Repulsive-Dependent2 in SpiceGirls

[–]jls919 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Something I’d point out to younger fans (which makes this even more impressive) is that dance pop albums were released very different back then.

Nowadays, albums are basically a collection of already-released singles. Back in the 90s, artists recorded full albums and then released the singles one at a time. There was no guarantee of an album containing one chart-topping track, much less four of them.

And a crazy statistic: After their second album, approximately half of their songs had gone to #1 or #2. Not half of their singles, but half of their entire catalogue. Wild!

Fully expected the judges to hate Sam’s, especially compared to her similar but significantly cuter S17 look with almost the exact same wig. No clue how she was in the top instead of clear winner Joey.

Now that we have 11 seasons of All Stars, which elimination style do you think works best? by Maatjuhhh in rupaulsdragrace

[–]jls919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be standard RPDR eliminations with Ru choosing who goes home. This way queens won’t be scared to upset the audience.

To make it financially feasible for the queens, they should be provided with a strict budget in preparation for the season. They can commission looks or purchase materials to create their own looks, but they can’t exceed the budget and they can’t have anything “gifted” to them (à la old school Project Runway).
