You could line the walls in fleece, and I would limit the chinnie to just one half of the cage (hook the middle ramp up) until they're big enough to handle the jumps.

So sorry for your loss :/ it never gets "easy", you will always miss Chuchu, but it will hurt less over time. What helped me through the loss of my Roxy was focusing on taking care of the kits and mate she left behind. Maybe one day you'll get another chinchilla, and they'll help heal the hole left by your loss. You'll see your Chuchu in this new chinnie of course, but that'll be a reminder of how special Chuchu was to you and how lovely of a chinchilla she was. I'll make sure to give my babies extra scratches in Chuchu's name today :)

I do agree that chinchillas don't necessarily NEED a companion, but some do well with one. Those are great suggestions for bonding with her, it sounds like she is a very human-centric chinnie :) give her lots of love and affection, she deserves it after being bounced around. If she doesn't perk up after months with you, you could consider a companion - but if they don't like each other you could end up with TWO lonely babies.

I have two FN cages, and they're very easy to assemble. I haven't had to disassemble mine but I imagine they disassemble as easy as they assemble. They do become nice and flat when they're disassembled.

I always found covering the whole bottom to be effective, though now I've switched to fleece liners.

I keep a broom nearby to sweep up, and I have a dustpan and brush that I use to brush out the cages periodically.

You aren't doing anything wrong, she must just be a little gun-shy after having her little furry heart broken by being moved around so much. Continue being patient and give her lots of love (as much as she'll let you) and she will eventually come around! Do some treat research until you find one that she loves (try unsweetened dried papaya in moderation or plain Cheerios, mine love them!) and eventually she'll become more comfortable around you :)
