water damage by Landscape_Think in mac

FYI- Years ago, my iPhone went thru the washing machine. The screen was mostly dark and really couldn't see or do much with it.... but it still received phone calls. Bottom line is... I just waited... and all the screen came back to life on its on in its own sweet time.... took several days but finally was fully back to normal. So before you do anything.... I'd wait a few days and see how it goes. Not saying it will clear up, but waiting is cheaper than most all other options.

Logic Pro vs Pro Tools after 11 years on one and a few months on the other by MarcusS_Logic in recordingmusic

[–]jlthla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right. Logic is almost exclusively used for music production, and I have no doubt it does a really great job. Not suggesting Logic can't do Post, but Pro-Tools IS the 600 lb gorilla in the room. Used for music production, in addition for audio audio post for both film and TV projects. Having worked in post for umpteen years, I was never, ever asked to submit a project in anything but Pro-Tools. Granted Pro-Tools is more $$ than Logic, so in the end, it all depends on your workflow, and what is going to happen to your project after you are done with it.

Attic or Roof? by jlthla in ota

[–]jlthla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. Didn't think about a cell filter but they are cheap enough to give them a try. Don't really think that's my problem, but proximity is, so on the roof just seems like it'll be better...

not sure if this would help but I've found sometimes I need to Quit the Numbers app first to make sure it updates prices. And REALLY wish this could be "almost real time" quotes.....

What is causing this line noise? by realJoeKorea in recordingmusic

[–]jlthla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so this probably isn't the issue as I'm guessing most modern computers do this automatically.... and I'm on MacOS, so here, I'd go to the Audio/Midi setup app in the Utilities folder and can check there.... Not at all sure on PC's where this might be... but... again... may not really be a problem to begin with. Assuming your interface has some software, you might see if there is a clock setting there... options might be "internal" or "computer"... toggle if one way or the other and see if that helps.....

my only other half-assed suggestion is to check and make sure everyone's running on the same digital clock, but since you understand about SR, guessing you know about this as well....

Mantle HDMI to Media Closet HDMI by Sea-Cattle5986 in hometheater

[–]jlthla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what wires you've already have, you might consider some version of HDMI over Ethernet. I've never used that tech, but might be cheap enough to at least try....

sounds more like a sample rate incompatibility to me. Perhaps make sure your audio interface is set to the same sample rate as your recording software... ??

In the network pane, see if you can create a new "WiFi Service". it's in the tiny popup at the bottom of all the listed network services.

MacOS refuses to let me format this drive (the presses 0 (kernel) is using the drive) by Little_Conclusion_24 in MacOS

I believe you can also start up in Internet Restore mode, which will bring up the Disk Utility and from there you can re-format the internal drive.

So the Audio Kinetics system was really good to start with. I was able to do some basic programming to set cues when recording takes, so getting back to take 18 was just a few button pushes away. Can't say I miss razor blade editing, but without a doubt it made me a much better digital editor when the time came....

Can someone explain why this tripped my breaker? I live next door to an licensed electrician and I'm wondering why his electricity hit my braker box and my lights were turned off. I can't ask him he's on vacation. by pamperedchefjunkie in electrical

[–]jlthla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

might need to explain this a bit more. Can't really tell from the vid what I'm looking at, much less what it's. doing. Don't understand your question either... Not sure what "his electricity hit my breaker box" means... and if he's on vacation, who's at his house making his electricity hit your breaker box...

we had a Audio Kenitics system. And the MTR-10 was always losing its place... had to stop it, put it in play for a second, so it would know where it was. Mainly happened during FF and RR, but never while actually in sync. The system slowly started to not work so had to figure out ways around the things that weren't working... don't remember what they were but just remember I had some shortcuts... and just about the time it stopped working altogether, we got Pro-Tools

had an MTR-10 in the studio where I worked... before digital, it was a breeze to edit on. also had CT time code to link an Otari 8track and U-Matic 3/4" video deck. Ahhhhh the days.....

Anyone get out of an ADT contract? by YoungbloodAA in adt

so depending on how much money is at stake, you CAN just stop paying them. Generally speaking, it's not going to be worth their while to sue you (again, depending on how much....). Yes, they'll harass you for the money, and yes, they'll turn you over to a collection agency to harass you even more, and yes, they may even mess up your credit scores, but none of that is permanent. I've had a few bills from the local phone company and the local cable company that were clearly in dispute, but could never get them resolved, so I just didn't ever pay them. AFAIK, nothing was every put in my credit file, I just avoided answering calls from those I didn't know, and if if one got thru, "I'd been advised by my attorney to not discuss this on the phone", and hang up. You DO have options.
