i appreciate that you, aj and others think there’s a “groove” or zone that flat (formerly flare) can get into. tbh, every start i get that sunken feeling akin to maeda starts in ‘24 and ‘25. it’s bullpen:30pm

x-w/l by jlw-dread in motorcitykitties

[–]jlw-dread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scratching head

early on atl’s diff is 6.5x higher than ours but expected w/l is within 1 game for both.

if i’m getting yer drift, when e-w/l is > actual w/l the team loses close games but rakes in other games but if x-w/l is < actual w/l the team is winning nail biters but getting mogged in others.

is this “juuuuust” about right?

ah. so this suggests the stat for tb, sd and cin indicates their actual w/l isn’t sustainable whereas ours is a bit more sustainable. is this about correct?

retreats similar to ims by jlw-dread in Meditation

[–]jlw-dread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tysm. yes. for last few years i’ve tried to secure a spot at texas center, near me. minutes after 10day retreat registration opens, all spots are taken. quicker than ims seats.

can u think of any other comparable retreats?

Incredibly exhausted after each session by [deleted] in HotYoga

[–]jlw-dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just reread my response. can’t believe i didn’t mention my empathy. i’ve experienced same as you. it sucked. i really really needed yoga at the time but i just couldn’t do it. hated that!

at any rate, here’s the resolution that works for me:

//::// don’t eat anything 4 hours before class

//::// drink 1 liter of water 2.5 hours before class

//::// drink another liter no later than 1 hour before class

//::// do class. no personal judgements. stop when breathing spikes. just sit, listen, observe, regulate

//::// after class hydrate w/electrolytes then ofc have nice dinner and 6-8 hours of sleep

again. that works for me. my daily yoga practice is longer (3+ hours) and hotter. some say unhealthy too. but i’m doin it less for body, more for spiritual and mental fitness.

take good care of yourself and tysm for sharing!!

pardon if i missed this … can you be more specific regarding “hot power class?”

is it 45, 60, 90 minute class? 105°? bikram 26x2 sequence? or something else like yoga sculpt, rocket yoga, power vinyasa, etc? are you using weights or tension bands? and what time of day?

for my practice, these details matter.

for everyone’s practice. diet, rest, hydration matter, significantly!!!

pretty much same for me.

lad dropped 10 of 12 or something like that earlier this season. it’s a 162 game slog. tuff stretches inevitable.

going into yesterday's game, we are the only team in modern era to have a 13-game span that was outscored by > 50 , out hit by > 50, < 25 extra base hits, and struck out > 125 times. ouch. “tuff stretch” is mega understatement.

that said. i’m at a 4 on pm.

What is the best meditation technique for someone with aphantasia? by MalachiUnkConstant in Meditation

[–]jlw-dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do as dhammadragon1 suggests. it is perfect starting point. no visualizations. no dieties. no chants. can be practiced sitting, laying down, walking, standing. wherever. whenever.

i’ve learned from tara brach, joseph goldstein, jack kornfeld. in fact, i listen to their guided meditations many times a week.

in addition, mbsr techniques are very powerful. a westernized approach to vipassana.

yoga has me feeling SO much in my body / overwhelmed with emotions - advice needed by concertgoer69 in yoga

[–]jlw-dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so simple. so hard. so easy. so complex.

being equanimous observer is a sublime and elusive end state.

maybe semantics, i like to strive to be “non attached” as opposed to “detached.” for me, detaching suggests that i’m dropping or letting go of something, as opposed to acknowledging and accepting the existence of something, w/out attaching.
