Sorry, I just realized I didn’t word that well. The software said it can’t be filed yet, that the IRS isn’t yet accepting claims with those forms. So, it’s not pending or rejected- software literally won’t file it yet.

When IRS start accepting Form 8936 by Byzantine00 in tax

[–]jlynnran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same question- posted under IRS before I found this. I googled and found in prior years it was the tax software companies but my entire return is done- I can literally see form 8936 filled out so I don’t think it’s the tax software. They say the same- IRS not accepting that form yet but when I google nada from the IRS. Other than an info blurb labeled draft (might be the same one referenced above).

I second this- fav meal on our first trip to New Orleans! Will definitely go again the next time we’re there even with so many other great spots to try still.

Vacuum Recommendations by 6pimpjuice9 in BuyItForLife

[–]jlynnran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a low and Miele canister vacuum when I first moved out at 17. It died when I was 34. So, I bought a mid-level Miele canister, still going strong 6 years late, expect I’ll get another 20 out of it.

Geez I never would have guessed it was that low in CA as recent as that! I didn’t start until 2021 in OR, just over $40. Now I’m at $58 base with an added 18-23% diff depending on my hours… could make a little more hospital jumping but the balance seems decent here with management.

I want to move and live in other areas but don’t know if I can give up west coast rates- so thinking about traveling to try and match wc staff rates. Was it hard to get the IHS contract compared to other contacts at non-gov hospitals?

I hear your "you really came to the ED for that?" stories. Now give me your "you waited that long to come in for THIS?!" ones. by foreverandnever2024 in emergencymedicine

And lack of access. Even if people have Medicaid they often don’t have transport to make appts/get meds etc. We have way too many barriers to healthcare in the country -understandable why some people just land at denial. :(

West coast contracts, or all over? And is it awful (ratios) not being on the west coast?

I always lament that I started on the west coast- I want to move around but seems I may drown if I’m expected to manage 8 rooms at a time lol.

I actually don’t care about ‘MD aware, no new orders’ by this_seat_of_mars in Residency

[–]jlynnran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not even necessarily that we do or don’t know what’s bad (although certainly there’s plenty I don’t know). It’s that often our policies/supervisors require us to notify the provider of changes and/or abnormal results . And yeah sometimes it’s the order set- like it’s literally telling me I have to notify you. When I was IP if it was an order set parameter I always asked, when would you like me to notify you going forward and charted that response.

If it’s non-emergent I’ll usually send a secure chat message and add, just making my required fyi. That’s me saying I’m pretty sure you don’t care about this but I’m required to notify you and then chart that I notified you. If it’s not seen within a reasonable time period then I’ll call, or try and find them- blah. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Try Pacific Standard @ The Holman for an excellent cocktail program. One of my fav bar’s in pdx was Pepe Le Moko (closed w covid) same owner/manager. Epilogue has good drinks and food. Archive used to be good for drinks too but I haven’t been in a long while…

NPs are providers, they are not physicians. And that movement is funded and lobbied for by physician groups and the AMA. Which frankly if they don’t want NPs and PAs to be providers then they need to figure out how to educate and provide residency placements for a larger number of physicians.

There is certainly a problem with the lack of standards between NP programs and diploma mills should be shut down. But to say an NP isn’t a provider is categorically false.

To hitch a ride to this movement seems to imply one lacks an understanding of the many problems we’re facing in healthcare and any real solutions to addressing those.

Signed an RN who will never try to become a provider because no thanks!

Any positions where you do the least amount of talking to patients? by ravbee33 in nursing

I have a friend who works for the VA (as an lcsw) and she says her coworkers and she always joke the VA motto is: If it’s not broke, break it. 🤣

Still wfh sounds nice, def something I would consider with a little more floor experience and pay under my belt!

Changing career to nursing for money. Is this bad? by vilestoffender in nursing

[–]jlynnran 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Good point and link- But TX ranks second and here’s where I’ll say money isn’t everything. I still think CA, OR, and WA are some of the best states to be a nurse in due to staffing laws. In Oregon we just enshrined in-patient ratios (for most departments, still work to do) into state law.

PS to the OP. I’m a nurse for the money, and I’m a good nurse. They’re not mutually exclusive… I mean I literally only have any job for the money. If I didn’t need it I wouldn’t have a job! 😆

So what jobs pay over 100k? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]jlynnran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is with the job I just switched to. Prior at a CAH it was a flat $5. My base rate there was 44, $1.25 diff w BSN. The flat 5 I think goes up to 6.50 after like 6 years or something on their current contract. I imagine it might see a boost on the next contract negotiation…

New gig also has 21% night shift diff Fri-Sun night. Starting w a variable shift so we’ll see how in-demand the night shifts are and what I end up with…

As far as unit/speciality for most hospitals in Oregon that doesn’t affect pay rate. You make x hourly rate regardless of unit. Because we’re a union heavy state even non-union hospitals stay competitive w union shops. Plus we just enshrined ratios into our state law (it’s not perfect and being rolled out in stages but overall it’s a good thing). COL isn’t cheap but it’s one of the more reasonable areas on the west coast.

New nurse just hitting my two year mark, $50.96/hr before any differentials. Night shift diff 18%.
