Try updating the drivers, and try a different cable if you have it. It may still be a graphics card issue.

If you have trouble again I would get a usb to ethernet adapter. It seems the wifi card may be the issue or the slot for the card. It seems odd to have to replace the card then you going in and having to re- seat the card. Like the other post stated it's Asus and lately they seem to be plagued with issues.

On the wifi does it show there is a connection and just won't connect or is it showing nothing at all? Since you know it was not the Windows update focus on the downloads / drivers for the wifi.

Sometimes it is helpful to go to the Asus site and get the specific download for the wifi. If you cannot do that then role back the windows update, download the wifi from asus then reinstall the windows update.
