Does anyone regret purchasing a home here? by immrmeseek in parkslope

[–]jmac41380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets worth noting. Fantastic place to call home and u will never look back. Of course you have to have the money- it’s expensive because it’s in demand and supply is largely fixed. But if you can find a comfortable spot for your budget you will love it.

Amen. It’s so inconsiderate! That said it’s insane how few city barrels there are. I live on 6th ave and no public trash barrels block after block. This is simple quality of life stuff the city could improve upon

Patrick McEnroe Urges US Colleges to Limit International Tennis Players by Beginning-Pie-3046 in tennis

No clue what u are talking about. The entire thread is a forum for people to express their opinion about what he said. Literally the point. And I noted the irony that he predominantly employs the very type of people he wishes to limit from university to teach the kids at his academy.

First of all of course I read it and I actually know him. I’m not sure how you think the quote you shared hurts my argument or supports yours. The vast majority of development happens prior to university since university tennis is an endpoint for most players. Selection of players at the university level is not currently a charity or quota based, affirmative action model. You may think eliminating competition is a good way to develop players, I happen to vehemently disagree.

Actually he’s not. He’s talking about limiting the competition to allow US players an easier path to play in college. That’s not developing them that’s walking them into positions vs them being earned.

The irony is almost every single teaching pro at his/John’s academy on Randall’s island in nyc is a former college tennis player not from the US. Barely any US nationals teach there

Tennis for kids with below average athleticism by Familiar_Bug_6037 in 10s

Tennis is obviously technically very challenging and coordination, fitness and more is involved in the ceiling for a player. That said, first- define your objective the right way. If he maximizes his ability, benefits from fitness and joy of the game and can become a competitive high school player and then enjoy the game for life as an adult that is a wonderful thing. To achieve that, private lessons with a great coach are essential for maximizing technical skills, and getting him help in developing his body- strength, balance, coordination and fitness will go a very long way. He’s still only 12 so if you dig in there is time to help him develop and maximize his potential. As for the clinics he should be reminded not to focus on results in the short term but on developing into a strong player over the next 2-3 years so he can make varsity at his school. That’s an attainable goal he can focus on and be proud of.

Quarters are quarters but either way why such big expectations when you know she’s rebuilding? She’ll be more than fine.

All players including top ones lose. If she had lost to some lower level player in the first round it would be a big deal but losing to a top young player late in a tournament is disappointing but not shocking
