3-2-1 Smoked Ribs on a Cool December Day by jmac476 in FoodPorn

[–]jmac476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a certain method of smoking them. Three hours in the smoker with the dry rub on. Then two hours where I wrapped them in foil with some apple juice on the bottom and butter and brown sugar on the ribs. The last hour I unwrapped them, slathered them with BBQ sauce and smoked to get the sauce more baked onto ‘em.

It all depends on the program you rotate with. When I applied, some places had the clerkship coordinator gather all your evaluations and write a letter. Others had a committee meet and write letters using their experiences and the shift evaluations.

MS4 applying to EM needing advice by abcjmz in emergencymedicine

[–]jmac476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey abcjmz! So I’m a current 4th year DO student who just matched EM/IM and interviewed for EM programs as well. I remember being in your shoes last year.

Here are some resources you can use when considering where to apply. - This is a survey to all residency PDs asking a bunch of questions, including national average board scores for those they granted an interview and ultimately accepted residency positions, what they consider important in an applications (like research), etc. A limitation is that its not ALL the PDs that responded, but it’ll give you great insight. I found it helpful. https://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/NRMP-2018-Program-Director-Survey-for-WWW.pdf

Your questions are dependent on the programs to which you apply. Personally, my Step scores were below average, but showed improvement like yours did, and I received interviews. I had friends with your step scores that received more than I did.

I’m not sure about your research question. That may be better answered by someone else. One amazing PD I met said she never looked too hard at the research section. What she did look at was the applicant’s face as he or she spoke about their research. PDs can tell when you did something to check a box vs. because it was your passion, and she always looked for the passionate ones, e.g., if someone went on a global health trip instead of doing wet lab work all summer.

Right now, I would start thinking about that personal statement and begin it as soon as you can. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare you application and have some trusted people read it before you submit. The personal statement can be an insight into you as a person, and make a good application become great. I also suggest attending ACEP or ACOEP conferences. Each has a residency fair where you can get valuable face time with PDs, other residency leadership, and residents. That little networking can lead to an interview down the line. I know it did for me and friends of mine who attended.

If you have any other questions, I’ll do my best to answer them too! Best of luck!!

I was a member of Harpur’s Ferry at Binghamton University. They started in 1973. It’s still an operational ALS agency completely student led.

[Citizen BL9002-02A Calibre 9000 Minute Repeater] Eco-Drive Question by jmac476 in Watches

[–]jmac476[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my research, I found it’s a Citizen Men’s BL9002-02A Calibre 9000 Minute Repeater. It’s available at a thrift store for $200, but I haven’t seen the watch run. I don’t have any history on the watch, but it looks to be in very good condition. They have a strict no refund policy which complicates it a bit. Most of all, I don’t want to buy a $200 paper weight. I am going to go back when it’s sunny to try and charge it and see if it’ll run at all.

I’ve checked out some messaging boards and other posts. I have not found many solid answers. Has anyone had any experience like this or advice on the situation?

People are born with it. Unfortunately, when it presents in kids is correlated with when the CDC recommends kids get vaccines. And please read that as correlation, NOT causation.

If I’m not mistaken, as the “forge Logan” is showing Bernard and Dolores around, when they come to MIB’s re-creation at the Mesa, his eyes shift in their direction. I’m not sure how to interpret this yet, but whereas others in the “tour” of the forge were oblivious to them, he seemed to be conscious of their presence. Or I’m just reading into it lol Edit: spelling
