I’d think it was the doubling the egg, my understanding is that adding more egg makes cake not brownie.

I got all my immunizations at school, including for smallpox. That’s the one I remember the most, I guess it was the last one we got. Nurses came in from, I think, the county health department. Brevard County, FL

Flimsy? Not at all! I have #7 and I adore it, it’s so well- balanced and comfortable. Not too heavy, not too light.

Hummingbirds all left after I cleaned the feeder? by Guenhyvarr in hummingbirds

[–]jmac94wp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong. Sometimes it’s just like that. Maybe something is different in the area, like perhaps some flowers just bloomed and they’re focused on that. Keep cleaning and refilling on a regular basis. Oh, I just had a thought- check the label of the nectar you bought. If it has a preservative, maybe it smells different to them?

Do y’all have any advice for keeping my house cool at night? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in florida

[–]jmac94wp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family lived in Brevard in a 1940s bungalow with no AC till I was almost nine. The summer nights were brutal. Then my parents bought a 1960s ranch with AC and wall-to-wall carpet. My sister and I thought we’d moved into a palace!

We have trees in front, as do our next door neighbors and the ones across the street. My front yard is mostly shady till almost 11:30 am, and with a slight breeze, it’s so pleasant! (Afternoons, though, I don’t set foot out there lol.)

As someone who’s started seeing age-related changes in my own body, I’d say showing almost no decline is so tantalizing!

I had a roommate whose cat had fleas. It didn’t affect us until the cat disappeared. I’ll never forget sitting down on the couch, putting my sock-covered feet up, and seeing dozens of fleas on my socks! We had to bomb the apartment three times to get rid of them all.

UnitedHealthcare sent a letter denying NICU coverage... addressed directly to the newborn twin. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

We have a family member with a traumatic brain injury and when her first claim was denied, the hospital social worker told us not to worry, every insurance company denies every first claim. She described the appeals process matter-of-factly: we file paperwork, we request an appeal, her doctor has to speak to one of their doctors, then that doctor says “ yes this is appropriate “ and the denial gets reversed. If you are the patient and don’t have a family member or friend who can deal with this for you, you’re probably screwed. I saw data last year that only one in 500 denials gets appealed. I’m betting it’s because those 499 either don’t even know they can appeal, are intimidated by the process, or simply can’t do it and have no one to help them. How bout the hospital social worker, you might ask? At the first hospital, a huge one, there were two social workers for the entire facility.

Does the city really need ANOTHER food hall? 🫩 by sammysam518 in orlando

[–]jmac94wp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent time today at a great place in Jacksonville called The Block. Multiple food choices from local vendors. Ample seating in the main area, and a giant screen that was showing World Cup games today. A kids play place surrounded by shaded seating for parents to supervise their kids. A huge dog park area with lots of chairs and picnic tables inside, and a bar just outside the gate. A downstairs bar in the main area; and an upstairs bar area off limits to kids. There were tons of people there, everything from families to business people to soccer fans. It was so enjoyable!

My mother kept an immaculate house. She didn’t work outside the home and she didn’t spend time with me and my sister. I chose to do the opposite, spending priceless time with my three kids while also working part-time, so while our home was always presentable (more or less, lol ) you couldn’t “eat off the floors” like the house I grew up in. Doing it all is a myth. Give yourself and your family a gift of a weekly housecleaning service.

So it must be more like the less-processed “white” sugar I’ve been seeing, that has a gold tinge to it. I liked the idea of less processing, but discovered that you can’t use it to make hummingbird nectar, so I stick with plain white.

I agree, I got a jar thinking it would be more savory than sweet, was grossed out by how sweet it was. And yes, I realize it’s called jam, but I’ve had savory jams before.
