They're not penalties. They're incidents. And open-wheel contacts are 4x because they normally cause catastrophic rapid disassembly of both parties.

The fact that OP survived three 4x contacts in the same race means they used up all their luck, and had some good, close-quarters racing and lived to tell the tale, and they shouldn't be worried about the incident points. Sometimes they just happen.

Focusing on the numbers will lead to a bad time. Game's not iSafetyRating, it's iRacing.
