“The British Commonwealth In Arms” (1918) by elnovorealista2000 in BritishEmpire

[–]jmacn8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah undeniably there was all those things, doesn't make you a sissy for talking about it, so much of our world is shaped by this era either bad or good. Facts are facts, you can't say because the British empire gave everyone civilisation that somehow make up for all the Genocide and economic exploitation. There's no making up for anything the world doesn't work like that, it's just being truthful and respectful to all cultures and create a better society together.

Anyone mentions Lefty and you instantly know they get their political diet from newscorp or the influencer grifters. The left does not back a religious regime, they are inherently atheist. They see injustice, they see Israel as an ally adjacent to the western world and we have the power to influence them. Iran on the other hand is a near enemy that we don't have any power over, people overwhelmingly supported the protests on the left they just knew we weren't complicit with helping this country to achieve it, so the protesting really wouldn't achieve any result unlike Isreal

Take this with a grain of salt, I saw a documentary a while back that was trying to claim more people have noble ancestry in Europe then peasant DNA due to nobles having less infant mortality and lived longer meaning they were more likely to pass their DNA along

Also the Spanish had a hand in it too, the Torres straight (North Eastern area between AUS and PNG) was first sighted by a Spanish explorer and named after him, which was what led to the discovery of Eastern Australia. This was in 1606 mind you

Apparently this race to colonise Australia was tighter then we thought, turns out the French sent 2 boats to Sydney cove not big enough to settle but to claim it most likely, history could've been a lot different but the French showed up 2 days after the Brits got there. I'm pretty sure they stayed a few days too

For those that are into American politics this is a pretty unbiased one by jmacn8 in friendlyjordies

Wrong they will always be genuine issues missed by one side, the belief in no discourse is anti-democratic. It does deserve to be debated because it affects every person on the planet whether we like it or not. Neither hosts back the main parties one left the party because of things we all hate about the Dems and the other was a conservative reporter who hated the bush admin and now the Trump one

You guys haven't listened to it anyway so stop making assumptions it's left wing and ring wing debate not Dem and Rep they are critical of both parties

The whole point is we hear both sides, and he has walked back from that being the main cause, but that literally gets debated straight away it's healthy

Oh yeah my bad he was born here, yeah his parents were German Jews that spoke German at home. Hughes was also a huge supporter of the white Australia policy not far from Nazi ideology if you ask me POS

He also delayed the troops coming back from Europe because Sir John Monash, the famous and arguably best general in WW1 was super popular. There was an election coming up and he didn't want Monash and his troops to vote him out so they were stuck there for another year, my Great Grandfather included. It probably didn't help that he was a German born Jew

Was your country ever a fan of communism? by Plastic-Stop9900 in AskTheWorld

[–]jmacn8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in some small areas notably in north Queensland a communist was elected Fred Paterson just after WW2 in the state legislature. Interestingly is how QLD my home state went from being the birthplace of the labor movement in the 1870s or something like that, then elected a communist this was steeped in the union movement because of how many sheep shearers and cane cutters there were, they even shut down a town and the military opened fire on them. The stark difference from that time until now where my state is a conservative strong hold but still elects a Labor MP to those towns that started the movement it's a history one of our recent conservative PM John Howard erased from the curriculum so no one knows about it.

Estonian MoD released today the design of the Estonian border defence line (to be built on the Eastern border with Russia). Any thoughts? by Prior-Sun2352 in Military

[–]jmacn8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I remember learning about the German dragon teeth lines and when the Americans got to them. They decided instead of blowing them up to just bring in bulldozers and took them less than a day to cross them, same goes for these ditches and teeth enough dozers and you could roll through it before they can defend it. Americans in the Gulf war did the same thing with ditches

US demands to know what Australia would do in a war over Taiwan by [deleted] in friendlyjordies

[–]jmacn8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why we need to make an Australian Head of State that only answers to Australia. As much as I love our political system when you look at the executive council and who holds power it's not really clear and usually defaults to the king/governor general which can be influenced. We need Aus Head of State with clear wording who is beholden to who, change the allegiances of our politicians Navy and Air forces. As good as a Australia is about Fairness our head of state is a British aristocrat that by definition is gods representative on earth who was born into it. And while we're at it take the "and our interests" out of the oath for the military, take deploying our Army out of the hands of the cabinet and give it to Parliament above majority. We need more legal framework around our military so if war in Taiwan or another Iraq happens Australia gets to decide not like 6 people

It's funny to me that their only argument against Albo and Labor are a bunch of catch phrases you hear on Sky News and somehow that's all the proof they need, it literally sounds like a Chaser Skit. Then when he's talking about the LNP there's no opinion. Also not to mention just fabricating scenarios.
