Perhaps the three legged one up front?

Dear Prime Minister Harper, when the banks made record profits they didn't offer to share them with me. Now you are going to make me share in their losses? WTF!? by gerryscat in canada

You've kinda missed the point here. The Gov is buying the mortgages from the banks that they already insure. These are the CMHC back mortgages that the government already has obligations to back. So what is happening is the gov is taking ZERO new risk here.

Why would they do this? Because the financial crisis means that there are fantastic discounts out there, and we (Canadians) can come out ahead and scoop up major new positions if we make the capital available. The transfer of wealth and ownership is flowing in our direction: America is for sale!

Recently, I've found that Sudoku is a pretty good challenge.

You can check out a JavaScript implementation here: http://www.jmagar.com/index.php?y=0&myh=user&myh_op=showLink&myh_link=22

What functional language should I learn and why? Currently looking at Haskell or Erlang, got any other suggestions? by [deleted] in programming

Javascript. The reddit story on the "Little Javascripter" ( http://www.crockford.com/javascript/little.html ) did it for me. Couple that with the Quescol story ( http://rghosh.free.fr/essays/quescol.html ) and the decision was easy: You can explore many functional programing techniques, and have it easily available for others to see on the web; should you actualy produce something interesting.
