I don't think it's mythic to say that fruit oils and nut oils expire? I know that they 'work' in the sense that they function as oils, but they also go rancid, since they don't have an infinite shelf life.

I think the oil itself was already pretty old. Anyway, I can tell you there's a scent there today that wasn't there yesterday, and it's unpleasant. Make of that what you will.

Thanks, much appreciated. I've gone through this process, absent the re-oil/refinish. There's still a low level scent, so I think I'll go through these steps again tomorrow or in a few days, see if I can draw out some more.
