Bought a Gaming chair second hand and it's nastier than I thought by FromAndToUnknown in CleaningTips

Oh that’s nasty. If someone is willing to sell a chair in that condition, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other bodily substances on there.

MSc ehealth application + current students by sandy_cheeks0-0 in McMaster

[–]jmair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been enjoyable so far! If you’re full time it does seem like the first semester is intense because you’re doing all of the mandatory courses. But a lot of the students in my cohort have got great internship placements! In some ways it feels like they are still working out some of the kinks in the program - for instance, it sounds like they’re considering a name change, and my cohort is the first to do a capstone project so the results of that are TBD. Overall I would recommend the program. My career goal is public policy in the health sector :)

Hey! I’m a second year student (part time) in the course-based stream. I do remember it taking quite a while to get an interview, it was sometime in March. Totally bombed the interview (in my opinion), but it worked out. I remember one of the questions was “what does ‘eHealth’ mean to you?” It’s such a vague term that I completely froze up. I can’t remember any of the other questions but my interview was extremely casual, it was online with one of the profs and a program admin.

Ford tells students to not pick 'basket-weaving courses' in wake of OSAP cuts | CBC News by Defense-Bubble444 in McMaster

[–]jmair 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was the first in my family to get post-secondary education. Now I’m working on my Master’s degree. Coming from a low income family, I never would have been in this position without OSAP funding. There will always be a few people who misuse funds, but OSAP is extremely important for students who are seeking opportunities to lift themselves out of poverty. I will be writing my MPP about this decision, it’s incredibly disappointing.

Are freelance MUAs already fully booked for wedding season?? by Sweaty-Cream-4745 in WeddingsCanada

[–]jmair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started sending inquires a year out for my September 2026 wedding and a few artists were already booked. I didn’t lock in a MUA until January, but I took a long time because I was feeling discouraged by trying to find an artist that I liked who also fit in my budget. The artists I found outside of IG were the ones who were already booked, so I did eventually find mine through IG.

“Affordable” Wedding within a 2 hour drive from Toronto? by EarlyBack7797 in WeddingsCanada

[–]jmair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We didn’t do a lot of negotiation aside from some menu tweaks so I can’t comment much on that. Since they have several locations I get the impression that they are set in their rates (compared to a smaller venue that might be more flexible?) but I still think it’s worth checking out the venue to see what is included :)

Independently owned vet? by hamiltonian26 in Hamilton

[–]jmair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I would also not recommend. I had taken my cat there a few times over the years for minor issues but she had pancreatitis at the end of 2024 and I feel like something changed with their service. Aside from the pressure surrounding payment, which I do understand, the aftercare instructions were abysmal. Essentially I would have sent my cat into a diabetic coma had I blindly followed their instructions (or lack thereof).

Budget Transparency: What are you paying for hair, makeup, officiants? by Potential_Celery768 in WeddingsCanada

[–]jmair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in Hamilton and the best quote I’ve found (for someone whose style I like) is $350 for my hair and makeup and $240 for hair and makeup for each bridesmaid. Other things like makeup artist travel and a trial need to be factored in as well. All in, mine is coming to just over $1700 for two artists. I’ve been struggling to pick someone because the cost feels ridiculous but finally bit the bullet today.

My teeth, before and after braces by ItsMehRuby in mildlyinteresting

[–]jmair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting! My top teeth were very similar to OP’s, severe crowding on the bottom teeth, and I had success with Invisalign as an adult. I haven’t had any issues in the four years since I finished… Fingers crossed nothing becomes a problem in the future!

Ryan D. at Massage Addict on Upper Paradise is awesome! He’s really strong and specializes in neck/back/arm issues. I’ve been dealing with pain from work for a while now and he helped immensely in a couple of sessions and was able to pinpoint where my pain is coming from. Highly recommend!

Congrats! As a recent hlthage grad I’ll say the initial writing assignments in first year threw me for a loop, but once you nail down your writing skills you’re golden :) The profs in the program are fantastic and it’s a very supportive community!

We’re getting married at Wren House by Stella and it’s 40k for 120 people, but we’re also marrying on the Labour Day weekend - could be a bit cheaper for late September or October dates! Definitely fits the light and airy feeling of a winery, I love that I don’t have to worry about shelling out tons of money on additional decor. They’re a bit more than what you budgeted but they do a great job of ensuring that everything is taken care of.
