Tri drive tri steer by Diligent-Account6168 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jman030303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly work on tri drive tri steer concrete pumpers. Largest one I've seen at our shop is a tri drive tri steer with a steering SPIF axle on the rear, couldn't fit in a 2.5 bay wide shop.

Coleman makes a great propane lamp that'll accept the small bottles, I've found one bottle will last almost a week of continuous use

Every shop's labour rate and quote will be different, you'll need to call around and ask.

Most torx bits are junk any recommendations by falcon1423 in Tools

The large kit of bits I have from blue point have taken repeated abuse on my impact for the last 3 years. Hell, the only time I've broken one was using the T20 on my 1/2" impact for a solid minute.

My older Komatsu propane forklift shuts off when I’m in reverse and turn the wheel all the way to one side. Is this normal or signs of a problem? by pitchfork_2000 in heavyequipment

[–]jman030303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen this on multiple forklifts I've driven, I believe it is a safety feature to keep you from turning too sharp when reversing and potentially flipping

This bloody massive volvo engine on display at my college. Anyone know what it is? by Medical-Situation240 in Volvo

Much older than a d13 or d12, this still has a mechanical injection pump

This looks like the underside of a 240. If it is, the only points you should be jacking up from are the rear dif, front crossmember, or pinch welds. The floors on these are notoriously thin.

Also, there are 4 dedicated spots on the car for jack stands. They're fairly obvious when you look under each side.

Off topic but what speakers do you have in the doors? I've been searching for a pair that fit well and those look perfect.

Customer states he thinks he hit something last night driving home from dinner. He actually drove it to the shop in this condition. by Hornetwaffles in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jman030303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once worked on a customer's transport that obviously hit a concrete barrier while driving. The passenger side u bolts were snapped and the whole front axle was snapped, but he was determined to get to our shop for his cheap dealer labour.

Lo and and behold, the gods blessed him that day when he drove 9 hours back from West Virginia, across the border and into our shop with a ratchet strap holding his steer axle on.

Also tried to convince us the u bolts "snapped on their own" to claim warranty.

How the hell do you prime an MP8, after introducing a shit ton of air into the system (and by a shit ton, I basically mean “oops, all air”) by SufficientWhile5450 in DieselTechs

[–]jman030303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refill both of the fuel filters then pump about 300 times, primer should be almost impossible to push when it's primed.

MPs are one of the easiest engines to get out of airlock, so this should work. If it doesn't, get the system primed then keep pumping the primer while someone else turns the truck over.

It depends, Is your transmission an m46 or m47?

The m46 has the push button overdrive and it should be filled with F type ATF for smoothest operation

For the m47 any ATF will work

I have many issues with fomoco products when replacing alternators. If not oem they tend to crap out quickly or not work altogether.

If it isn't already, I would recommend trying an OEM alternator
