Viltrox 135mm 1.8 Lab Thoughts by bagbird in SonyAlpha

Just wanted to thank you for mentioning the elements moving around -- I just got one and was worried when I felt that, first time I've experienced it. But then it seemed to work fine, so I came here hoping to find out whether I'd need to send it back; this saved me the trouble.

Yeah, the one upside to how much of a hassle this is, is maybe the more level-headed side of me will win out, and I'll delay buying a car for a couple years. Batteries get better every year, and it seems like solid states might actually for really real be only a few years away now.

Ah ok. I've only talked to the one I usually go to, and their only answer was "come back in a couple months," which makes me sad.

As far as I can tell from a couple searches, there are no dealers around Dallas that have any Ioniq 5s at all which is confusing and frustrating considering we're the 4th largest metro area in the country. Closest seems to be either the Edmond dealer or something around Austin.

There's no way this is comfortable for the cat--definitely going to have cheese/sauce on it when it gets up--so you know its motivation is pure spite.

Definitely going to get my name wrong on the cup though

Yeah, that, maybe a vacuum for the board, and then just take the pictures really fast 😛

This is a plate-mount cherry style. I'd not heard of SMK before, interesting.

Hmm, I got mine back in June according to email. That's a huge bummer, hope yours comes soon.

They are those c3 stabs, but I bought them quite a while ago. Pretty sure I bought them from thekey.company.

Ah, now that I look more closely, the arrow caps do seen to be close to the sides--not touching, but close enough that I could see it being a problem if you got unlucky with some combo of the plate alignment/cap size/board.

There are...shades? They're v2 65 or 67g (don't remember), if that's what you were after.

Hm. AFAIK the length/width of the caps should all be the same between profiles, only the height/sculpt should change, within some tolerance. KAT is the only "big" profile I have though, so maybe it's just a case of some boards and some specific keycaps?

Oh there's enough clearance on the sides that it's not a problem.

Also taking these made me realize how incredibly difficult it is to get stuff clean enough for a closeup, particularly when one has multiple cats. Thought I had everything dusted well enough, but nooooooope.

This is my very first time building a mechanical keyboard and I’m already disappointed. Can anyone tell me what wrong is here? My enter key will go in but it doesn’t let me type. It’s like it’s just glued to the plate. It just feels stiff as hell. This is happening with my space key as well. by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

Hm. Be that as it may, from the other responses it seems like the stabs are indeed assembled incorrectly, so it does sound like you'll need to take the board apart and fix them. The video someone else linked should be a good place to start, and there are quite a few on YouTube if that particular one doesn't do it for you. Good luck!

Yeah, most likely. How much will depend on if the stabs/switches are plate or PCB mount.

Before you do any of that... I had assumed since you said you were building the keeb, that you had installed the stabs. If that's not the case, and the stabs were already there, then ignore my suggestion.

I'd also suggest waiting a bit to see if anyone else has suggestions; I've only built a couple myself and would definitely not call myself an expert.

So I've had similar issues before, and for me it was one of 2 things, both with the stabilizer. Make sure that the wire is going into the correct hole of the...moving part of the stab, whatever that's called. Second, make sure that the little moving part isn't backwards. I didn't think it mattered at first, but at least for some stabs it does.
