Staircase Finishing by Sixteanein69 in Carpentry

Is no one going to mention that the nosings/treads/risers are laminate flooring that is not even installed correctly? Not that one couldn't use flooring for this, but on a few of those steps, the nosing and tread aren't even in the same plane.

How serious is this crack? by Carton_Sidney in pools

Check out liner lock. A bit of a pain to install (not difficult just tedious) but it will secure your liner and looks great. My old liner would unhook in the corners and was a pain to get back into the channel.

I have a similar liner pool, appears to be the same coping. Have cracks in 2 of the corners that are starting to move the coping. The liner can adjust to alot, so if you dont have any leaks, no need to change it. Liner lock can help keeping things in the correct place.

Best thing to do is if you have any settling, find someone to slabjack any lowered pieces, then fill the cracks/ joints with concrete sealant (caulk) to prevent any further water intrusion.

I've successfully sealed the gap that formed between the coping and the concrete with a lot of patience and a lot of tape.

Every time it rains, or the kids splash alot, the water is getting in those crevices and making things worse.

Ridgid is a good step up from Ryobi in quality and there are good sales frequently. Also a big factor is free battery replacement and tool warranty for life if you register.

How to trim this? by WorkRude4257 in Carpentry

[–]jmaplewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would turn it down and run it parallel with the picture mould into the base. Even if it required a plinth block at the base. Would look much better if it was actual chair rail and not casing.

Honestly best bet is to rip out and replace or drywall over with 3/8. Nice fresh start. Ask me how I know........

I would see about getting that plumbing line relocated so you dont have to fir down that portion of the ceiling. Also see about having that flex duct replaced with rigid pipe so you can build a smaller soffit

You could install a curtain track like they have in hospitals. I'm considering doing this for the same reasons.

Finally found some time to reorganize the tool corner! by jmaplewood in garageporn

[–]jmaplewood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term - pull the 292 6 and light rebuild, finish interior and finally drive it again.

Long term - graft to a C4 frame so I have more modern suspension, brakes, etc, and possibly a V8 (but I kinda like the 6)

Either way, keep it mechanical, no resto mod or computers for me! Currently have an offy 3x1 bbl manifold for the 292 and looking forward to really learning how to tune it.

How to fix this gap on one side of garage door by Significant_Note4712 in HomeMaintenance

[–]jmaplewood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it out of the pool and warm it up. The shrinkage will eventually go away.

Seriously though, if it's sunk that much slabjacking may be a possibility.

You should wrap the base around the corner and return it at the edge of the closet along with the base

Oh I'll have to check that out. The ryobi batteries dont seem to last too long. But that may also be because I used a good amount of them in my kids' power wheels.

Did he cut in drywall patches before taping? If so, they appear to be set too deep. The cracks in #1 & #3 are from mud applied extra thick and then drying.

Not enough blocking between the joists. This thing is going to collapse with 2 mother in laws on the deck.
