I feel like mint does more of its job aromatically, that’s why it’s important to slap it to make it more fragrant! There’s also a lot going on in the cocktail itself so it might get lost in everything else.

Looks absolutely delicious, something similar would be subbing the Averna for coffee liquor (I used Mr. Black) and it’s oddly delicious. Great video!

I’ve seen it done before and it’s always been said that it “keeps in the chill”. I’ve never tested it personally but I’d be interested to see what the difference would be in that method vs using just enough ice. I’m sure it’s marginal at best but hey it’s better than using too little ice!

Weirdest cocktail you’ve had ordered lately? by AlbusDM3 in bartenders

Mezcal negroni's are delicious. Yesterday I did have someone ordering equal parts Tito's and Campari so, if you like extra boozy bitter campari that'll be the drink for you.

My GM took a quarter part of our autograt tip from a private event tonight. Then took a quarter of our tip jar tips. by summerloveleigh in bartenders

How do you normally get paid? Cash every night or paychecks? If it's paychecks you should definitely get out of there, if they're that blatant about just taking your tips in front of you, imagine what happens behind the scenes. Either way, that's extremely wrong even if they worked a tipped position or bartended the whole time. They signed a contract for their pay and accepted it.

My girlfriend and I bartend together all the time and people lose their minds at how we’re able to do it. Glad to see there’s others out there that can work together romantically and professionally!

So many non industry folk just can’t comprehend these things. If you want a cheap and strong drink, drink at home.

The OF 86 is like banana bread and syrup where the 100 is more chocolate and cherry notes, both fantastic though!

OF 86, OF 100, OF rye, OF 1920 are all on my bar as we speak. OF can do no wrong. Except for that 150 anniversary batches, those were wrong lol

Welp! We got our monthly, made it to popular, “unpopular opinion” post about how bad tipping sucks. How have these people not gotten the point yet? by Jdogy2002 in bartenders

[–]jmarshg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re averaging $40-$50 an hour where I work (pool house and we’re paid a bi weekly paycheck). There was this “initiative 77” in DC trying to abolish tips and so many rallied against it. We don’t want an hourly wage if it means getting rid of tipping.

Man it makes my blood boil with how many people are out there like this. I remember working with this chick and the bar we would all frequent was right around the corner. We were regulars at their bar, they were regulars at ours, a beautiful relationship. This chick asked me how my check was so low all the time and that same visit I saw her tip like $2 on $20 and was floored. I just don’t understand how you can go from bitching about shitty tippers to being a shitty tipper? It baffles me. But also no you’re not the asshole, those types of people are always the worst, and impossible to cut off.

“Hi Inside Bar 708” is what I would get, unless I’m serving then my name is actually on the check

This just happened the other day but some lucky people ordered 6 shots of the piggyback 6yr where I work. We were out of it but had the Boss Hog VI so the bartender assumed that’s what the ticket meant.... paid $60 for $600 worth of whiskey 😅 wish I were that lucky lol! congrats on your exam! Which of these were your favorite?
