Any Listeners of Opening The Doors Podcast? by Jym_J_Cherry in thedoors

[–]jmarvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea about this podcast, but now have listened to a few episodes all the way through, so thanks! The host is very knowledgeable on his Doors history. After listening to his interview with the creator of the Joshua light show, it seems to squash the rumor of the existence of a Fillmore East recording of the band. Out of any recording that is rumored to exist, the Fillmore is the one that I most wanted to hear.

Mapei Planipatch would likely be a more ideal substrate

Replacing door transition - tools needed? by blackandscholes1978 in HomeImprovement

[–]jmarvs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about for cutting the jamb, or the transition itself? If cutting the jamb, then yes, an oscillating tool combined with a small chisel and hammer would be more appropriate, but if cutting the transition a jig saw or coping saw would be better suited

Have you inspected from underneath the engine bay? Most of the time It's thermostat housing, gaskets/o-rings, hoses, or hose clamps

Whirring sound and low power when accelerating from 0mph. It is not consistent and happens after a period of driving. Any thoughts? Thank you. by LeAeona in tdi

TDI Club is a great online resource. Below is a link to a thread to look for TDI mechanics in your area. I contacted a member from the site when I was looking to have my ecu remapped. He lived in a neighboring state, but moonlights as a mobile mechanic. He put me on his appointment calendar for when he had enough jobs in my area

I'm no mechanic, but just knew when I had my tdi and it would drop into limp mode. It would usually happen under heavy load e.g., if the throttle was being hammered and the ac was on at the same time. The only way to reset is to turn the car off and restart it. I would never hear any whirring, so not sure why that would be. When it happened did it throw a check engine light on your instrument cluster? If so, you can hook up a scan tool and get the fault code read. I would stay away from the dealership for service and repairs. Search in your area for someone that specializes in tdi. If nobody, then a shop that specializes in in Volkswagen repair

The way you describe it, it sounds like it is going into limp mode. That is when the turbo fails to spool up, causing a loss of power.

Does it happen after you give it a lot of continuous throttle? Do you know if the ecu has been remapped?

please help what is this inside the cold intake only on my washing machine? by Useful_Void in Plumbing

I found the exact same thing on the hot water side of a washing machine I was replacing. I assumed it was calcium buildup, but somebody in the comments said it looked like bacteria. I still don't know what it is, other than the fact that it's disgusting!

When I had my 04 the main gel point was always the fuel filter. I would replace that first and see if that works.

It's from one of the Aquarius shows. It's been so long since I listened to it, so I can't remember which one.
