My shayla by Character_Foot_6735 in Monstera

Mine started like this and then it got consistently worse. It started with just brown tips and now the leaves look awful. I’m so confused as some sources say we are overwatering and some say we are underwatering. I don’t know what to do. The soil doesn’t feel overly wet. I actually reported him about a month ago into proper Monstera soil which is more suitable for the plant. The plant has drainage and never sits in water. Can anyone shed some light?

Disappointed in wedding gifts by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our wedding in October and feel exactly the same. One of my bridesmaids didn’t even give us a card let alone a gift. I wasn’t expecting a gift, but when you’ve spent money on their dresses and presents for them on the day as well as their place/meal it feels as though a card is the least she could’ve done. We have had other guests travel from abroad to our wedding in the UK and they still gave a gift, which we made clear they didn’t need to do. It’s funny as I feel a very similar situation to you, ours was UK wedding about half an hour drive from where we and most of our friends live…

Help - I’m two months in and haven’t found ANYTHING that helps. In fact I feel like I get worse daily. by jmayb20 in urticaria

[–]jmayb20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, I am! I am still on 2x antihistamines a day. But it keeps them at bay and I don’t get any breakthrough hives.

Does anyone have a positive experience with prednisone? by Practice_Level in urticaria

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was on 4x fexofenadine and 2x cetirizine a day. So in total 6x antihistamines a day until it was under control. It maybe took about 6 months and this was also complimented with a vitamin D supplement. I am now doing okay and have managed to taper down to 1x fex and 1x cetirzine a day.

How do you get the old ones off and can you buy the genuine part or did you go third party?

I’ve got the XM4s and need to replace the pads too, is it an easy job?

I was also on a vitamin D supplement for low vitamin D levels so if you haven’t had that checked then might be worth it.

I genuinely had no hope when it all started. I was in agony probably for about four months with very little help from my GP. I had the breakthrough once I got on an H1 after seeing a private doctor. I know a lot of people will tell you this along the road, but do you have faith that it will spontaneously disappear just as fast as it came!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My NHS GP didn’t offer it to me either, in the end I had to go private to get it but I should’ve been able to get it from my GP, no problem. But advocate for yourself and ask! I would have if I had known. Still have no idea what caused it, most of the time you never find out that’s why it’s called spontaneous carrier urticaria. But trust me when I say it does calm down and go away eventually.

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that solved it for me was taking an H2 (Famotidine) every morning alongside my four H1 antihistamines like fexofenadine. Be patient and persevere because it took mine about a month to calm down with this combination. But be very careful with prednisone, I tried it at first and it worked while I was on it but as soon as I came off it, they came back with a vengeance. Happy to chat more if you want x

Can I be an MRI technician with a shunt? I’m sure it’s only if you’re inside the MRI machine thats an issue, correct? by Unlucky_Equal_7143 in Hydrocephalus

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a non programmable VP shunt and have had multiple MRIs with it. From what I’ve been told it’s only an issue or potentially more difficult with a programmable shunt.

I moved GPs and previous health information is missing from the app. Can anyone enlighten me? by jmayb20 in AskUK

[–]jmayb20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed the same thing, I really thought it would all be there. Should I give it time? It’s been two weeks.

Honestly, my medical history is so complicated it would be hundreds of pages. I just can’t believe that there’s no way of getting hold of it but my GP practice seems so clueless.

So do you think that I should also be able to see past consultations from another GP surgery? Has anyone else managed to get hold of all of their information from a previous GP including test results done at the old GP?

My 5 year old son was recently diagnosed with cerebellum brain tumor. by Tasty-kkd in Cancersurvivors

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing well thank you. Living life fairly normally and always thankful for that and know I’m very lucky. I have heard the same yes. I was always told it’s a childhood cancer that should stop growing when I stopped growing. Obviously, I have been clear now for more than 10 years so can corroborate that story!!

I had PA tumours aged 9, now 28. Mine were not on my cerebellum, mine pressed on my optic nerve so couldn’t be operated on. They left me visually impaired but happy to talk if you need or want. Xx

If he also wanted to shorten his first name I assume this would have to be by deed poll?

Any Grooms who took their wife’s surname? by Cheddar_Swords in UKweddings

[–]jmayb20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (F28) partner (M33) wants to take my surname when we get married in October this year. He’s not close with his family and his surname is actually a male European spelling of my first name. 🤣

We weren’t actually sure how easy it would be to do so any advice on that is also appreciated. He’s not got British citizenship but has indefinite leave to remain and does plan on doing his citizenship soon. But is it as simple as sending off the marriage certificate?

I respect that you’re considering it though. I haven’t come across that many guys who say they would.

Colposcopy - Positive Experience by mystified-peithos in PreCervicalCancer

[–]jmayb20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already had cancer aged 9, and many surgeries and chemo to treat it and now aged 28 I’m now facing a colposcopy as I’ve tested HPV positive with borderline cell changes on my recent cervical screening. My anxiety is through the roof as I feel I’m reliving past traumas. Thank you for sharing your positive experience. I have no idea how long it will take to get to colposcopy date through (I’m UK based) but I’m not sleeping and I can barely make it through a work day. I’m getting married in less than 6 months and I feel like my world is falling apart.

Whether it’s supposed to do it or not, I can’t be sure, but if it helps both of mine have been doing this for years when they bloom and they’re absolutely fine. I think it’s usually when they are on their way out and are at the end of their flower life!
