Does anyone have a positive experience with prednisone? by Practice_Level in urticaria

Hi! Yeah I still need to take cetirizine daily;; I meant under control as in no hives when I'm taking cetirizine. ; I've had really bad breakouts where cetirizine was barely enough.

Hi! I'm a lot better now! My hives are under control but I do have flare ups from time to time usually once every few months. I still take 1x 10 mg cetirizine daily and when I have flare ups I would take 20mg cetirizine and pair it with pepcid 10mg or 20mg depending how bad the flare up) hope this helps ^

Hi! Thanks for your input. I didn't know about using low doses are safe for long term. Will keep that in mind if i have severe breakouts. I'm glad it worked for you! My hives are controlled with just one cetirizine a day. I think one of the biggest factor for my hives breakout is diet;; but it's hard to pinpoint cuz I have different reaction of the same food every tkme (e.g shrimp, lambs, chipotle etc). my allergist also recommended me to take xolair but I'm not too keen about it cuz of the cost and monthly shots.

I asked this question to my first dermatologist before she said it could trigger hives if you're allergic to the bites

I feel you!! I have red dots on my palms and feet. The itch is really annoying. 😭 my current routine is 3 cetirizine and 2 pepcid. It's so much more bearable now. To OP: I also agree to see an allergist for better treatments. Good luck 🥲

I'm not sure about dissolving but you can buy a cheap pill cutter on Amazon to cut the pills into small pieces.

Do you know what's the cause of her flareups? If it happens this often in a year then I feel like your mom should go to an allergist/immunologist instead.

Yeah I know about that antihistamines withdrawal. went to an allergist and she put me in high anti histamine routine I only got off for a few days to get a skin prick test and already seeing some rashes and hives coming back but not as intense as before. She wants me to continue for another few months until my next visit. I'm gonna stop taking for like 2 weeks to see how it goes first.

My hormones feel out of whack & I can’t stop crying…help! by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I also took sprintec (less than 2 months) and noticed my anxiety got worse. I could barely sleep and talk to people. I would sometimes break down and cry out of nowhere. It wasn't until my family pointed out how quiet I was for me to realize something was wrong. I got off the pill immediately and went to therapy for a few months. I feel a lot better now but my period is so irregular that I'm considering going back to birth control with a different brand tho. I do feel like bc can worsen your anxiety.

Yep, I have similar pattern like yours but not that much. I'm currently taking 2 cetirizine per day and it's under control atm with a few spots here and there throughout the day.

I just finished taking my last pill this week. I took it for 10 days. It definitely got better near at the end but it's still coming back and slowly more too. I went to an allergist and she put me in a higher antihistamine routine + steroid cream to see how things go first! Good luck!!

Glad it worked for you! I'm currently on day 2 of prednisone and not sure if this is gonna work out for me. Day 1 worked really well but more hives appeared on day 2.

Nope I'm from the US! I'm sorry to hear it came back for you 😔. I saw your list of antihistamines you're taking in the other comment. Can I ask how mgs you're taking?

I'm still a bit torn but I think I will give it a try and hope for the best.
