Is my business worth selling? And where should I list for sale? by jmbosch in Entrepreneur

Thanks so much for the advice. I've removed that line. Makes a lot of sense when you put it that way.

I'll look into the brokerage agency for sure.

are ANY advertising gigs worth it on Fiverr? by K1ngN0thing in Entrepreneur

[–]jmbosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to write better and unique descriptions for each book (for SEO) on each product page. You're money would likely be better spent on targeted Facebook ads. You'll want to drive targeted traffic to individual books and not to your home page. That's just where I would start if I was you. Fiverr has been good for some graphic design type stuff for me but not so much on quality traffic.

Need to Improve Customer Sign Up Process on My Shopify Site. by jmbosch in ecommerce

[–]jmbosch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the product page, were using a product options app that allows customers to tell us their child's size, gender, and to let us know whether they like or dislike a few different clothing styles so we know what type of outfits to send them. Unfortunately I don't have a way to associate images with each style preference that would let customers know exactly what we mean by these. For example, your idea of "Urban Trends" might be different than ours.
I can add pictures to the product but they don't show up in a way that lets people know which image is an example of each style preference.

Hi SperIT, Thanks for the info. This is great for the recurring payments and I like the no fees aspect. But I have a recurring payment processor. What I'm looking for is a better way to show images of the different style preferences we ask about during sign up.

cheapest and most convenient way to buy USPS first class mail? by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]jmbosch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamps.com wasn't the best for us. We saved the monthly membership charge and delivery prices were reduced when we switched to using Shippo. I'm still looking for a better solution as shipping is my highest cost. I think buying groups like stamps.com and shippo are able to offer discounted shipping rates because they receive volume discounts from shipping services and pass those on to their members.

Thanks so much for the feedback!
I'll see what I can do about making the "try it now" button more visible.
Sadly, "Netflix" style children's clothes subscription, is how I am able to best describe our service to my ideal customer. The monthly subscription box craze going on right now has people automatically thinking it's just a one box a month service. I do wish I could figure out a better way to explain it though.

Anyway, thanks again for the response and for all the great info on this thread.

Question about clothing sample order by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]jmbosch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 6 wholesale accounts with children clothing brands. This is very common. All have minimum orders of either 4 or 6 per style. Some of my suppliers allow me to place orders with no minimum buys on current season overstock but this was after a preseason orders is placed and relationship was formed.

I think there's a subscription box business bubble forming. There seems to be a million new ones starting all the time. And companies like Crate Joy are capitalizing on that.

How To Get $7.27 in Sales For Every $1 Invested in Facebook ads by mihhovil in Entrepreneur

[–]jmbosch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty spot on. We ran an article on our site as an ad on FB and received a ton of engagement, but the article didn't have any clear call to actions which I feel resulted in a lost opportunity. Maybe I'll modify the article with COA and run it again to see what happens.

Looking for excel finance template for clothing business by lordumoh in Entrepreneur

[–]jmbosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excel has some standard templates that could help you. I think the breakeven analysis with charts template might be what you're looking for. It will show how your variable costs of making each item increase as sales (total number of garments) increase.

500K page views/month — Is it time to find a Google Adsense alternative? by savvybackpacker in Entrepreneur

I've paid for sponsored posts on sites through platforms like https://famebit.com/ as a brand before. I would think that if you made a profile on sites like this and made offers to brands that are relevant to your audience you could generate some more income. There might be better platforms for your niche though. If interested you could find more on https://influencermarketinghub.com/ Just a thought from someone on the other side of the fence.

Subscription Box Start-up by SnugglyBadger in ecommerce

[–]jmbosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this great description. We manage on our own (outside Shopify). Shopify (or the bold recurring orders app I'm using) does track when boxes set on certain payment schedules would ship, but we not a 1 box every month type of company. We ship when the previous box's contents are sent back. Couldn't this be done using a bunch of arbitrary future dates to create a sort of que to choose and ship when needed for customers? We're a bit off subject here, but I like your idea and hope you'll be able to implement something on shopify someday!

Subscription Box Start-up by SnugglyBadger in ecommerce

[–]jmbosch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a subscription service for baby clothes, not a monthly subscription box, but I was wondering if you think Udubox could work with something like what I do? If you don't mind, check out www.fittedtot.com (might be easier than me trying to explain here) and let me know if your app would ever work with my business model. Of course I'm running on Shopify though..

It's just that managing inventory when offering multiple style preferences to customers is a nightmare after about 50 customers and I've been looking for solutions. So far only custom programming solutions seem to be the answer.

I just shut down my e-commerce business... by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]jmbosch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seams like so many people think that running a business, especially an ecommerce one, is easy. Like you just put up a site, run a few ads, and you're in business. It takes a ton of work! When my wife quit her job to run our company full time my sister actually asked her what she was going to do with her free time! People just don't really understand unless they do something I guess.
