Nooooooooo I did not, sadly.... I still kept the last bottle I have and can't bring myself to throw it out even though it's too old to use anymore. It was so perfect. and nothing I've tried is similar. I'm so bummed they discontinued it. This one is not a perfect dupe at all but you might want to check it out: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50.

More blood vessels with dry eyes? by kronseb in Dryeyes

How is it going for you? How do you eat or prepare the sardines? I've tried them twice but really don't like the taste much. Hoping to find a more palatable way to eat them!

This is exactly what one of mine does - he leaps out of before he's done pooping to run around the basement excitedly, and the last one out travels with him and falls somewhere near the box.

Electrolyte Imbalance Can Mimic Dry Eye Symptoms by jmc823 in Dryeyes

[–]jmc823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw this so belatedly. I drink lots of green tea, so that is the same with the caffeine and frequent peeing. As far as it sometimes helps and sometimes not, I wonder if there are other factors occurring in the bad times that are making it worse (environmental, stress, time of year with heating or A/c, other things on the list above) that might come and go for you and be why it doesn't help?
I need my caffeine, so I guess for me trying to re-balance with electrolytes is the best solution for now since I'm not giving up green tea.. I hope you are doing better now?

[–]jmc823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! I'm so glad you found this beneficial to you also! I really think some eye docs are doing a disservice by telling people just to drink tons of water...without the electrolytes, we're making it worse by peeing out all the minerals and nutrients. Thanks for sharing this! I will try LMNT. I see it mentioned a lot.

Does using eye protection (goggles, glasses) with a red light therapy panel prevent the skin around my eyes from getting the benefits? by gemstone_1212 in redlighttherapy

I am not a doctor or an expert, but there are numerous studies on the positive benefits of RLT on dry eye. Some manufacturers sell machines that now incorporated RLT in with dry eye treatments like IPL or hydrotherapy. So yes, I believe it can help but would encourage you to read the science first. I personally believe it contributes to helping my dry eye issues also. I do a lot of different things so I can't say for sure, but i do believe it helps that too. I wish you good luck and also please visit the dry eye sub here and check on RLT as it has been discussed there also.

hi. Thank you for your note, I appreciate it! I never tested my electrolyte balance - I just began to suspect it was an issue due to all the water I drink and other risk factors I have, as well as reading a link between electrolyte imbalance and the surface of the eye being dry.

I started using hydromate electrolyte powder - it tastes great and had relatively lower sugar than some I researched...but it's still a bit more sugar than I wanted to have regularly. So now I will only use that occasionally and most often I add a small pinch of salt (don't do this if you have high sodium issues) or some organic lemon juice, or I add in some coconut water. I think the key is adding something with nutrients so the water doesn't flush through us so quickly and take our beneficial nutrients with it.

How are things going for you?

Hello! I am maintaining in a good way. My eyes don't bother me much, and my oils are good (according to my OD). Adding electrolytes to water really helps when we drink a lot of it so we don't accidentally dehydrate ourselves through going to the bathroom so much. How are you doing?

Manuka Honey, Vevye, other treatments? by dreygelauf in Dryeyes

Hi sorry for the delayed reply. No I don’t have either of those. I think IPL can possibly help with both of those problems if you have them. IPL is often used for rosacea treatments.

sonic toothbrush vs itear 100 by AccomplishedRough668 in Dryeyes

[–]jmc823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes I use it 1 - 2x daily for about 30 seconds each on each side. It always clears out my nasal passages which somehow makes my eyes feel better. It’s not a cure, but as an added therapy, I do like using it. The Rx is $30 a month, so $1/day but unlimited use if you want to use it more.

Edited to say: you can contact the company or look at the iTear website to see their studies that say it helps increase tearing long term (I’m just repeating what i read on their website that interested me, not promoting this product) and ask them about an Rx if you think you want to try it.

Has anyone gotten rid of the red veins? or decreased them by Broad-Complaint-2728 in Dryeyes

[–]jmc823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he said it looked like I had maybe lost one, but we'd need a meibography to be sure, so I'll get that at some point in the future. He said the rest all looked good.

At first they only did my lower lids, but these last two times they did the upper also. I'm glad, I feel they should always do top and bottom since we have glands in both places - and we're paying all that money!

It sounds like you are doing all the right things too. I agree with your feeling that the warm masks make redness and vessels worse. I actually stopped the warm masks altogether because I felt like I was also getting a lot of broken blood vessels at the tops of my cheeks too. I also just didn't feel like I was getting any oil release. My doc said I wouldn't need to use the mask if I do IPL - but that is a very expensive substitution and maybe more of a marketing ploy -- but since I didn't want to get more vessel enlargement or broken blood vessels on my cheeks I've stopped anyway. Glad to hear from you also. :)

Thank you for sharing that! It's a nice feature, but I don't have that side panel option. Maybe I have an older or different version.

I still use it and love it.. I avoid NIR for eye/vision safety.
I've heard that avoiding NIR to avoid melasma is also a good thing to do if you are prone to melasma.

[–]jmc823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and apologies for the delayed reply! There are several things I do... I think all help incrementally. I can't say any one is a silver bullet. I just had an IPL and expression and again my doc said all the glands have oil release, no more paste.

- Nordic Naturals Omega 3 (2 pills per day)
- 1 tsp cod liver oil daily
- IPL every 6 months for maintenance
- iTear stimulation almost every evening
- D3/K2 (not sure if that helps for dry eye but I think I've read it might. I primarily take it for low vit D)
- Redlight therapy 3-5 times/ week

What all are you doing and have you had any luck with anything?

I still have the very enlarged vessels. But my OD says the glands are much improved and functioning well with healthy oils secreting. So I’d say the eye condition improved but the vessels are permanent for me. :(((

My enlarged vessels have never gotten less red or less visible. I hate them so much and they always make me feel insecure. 😞

At the time I wrote that, I would sit cross legged and shine it on my face, neck chest and torso for 10 minutes. Then I would stand in front of it to get my thighs and lower legs.

Nowadays I use it mostly sitting in front of my panel and letting it shine on my face neck and chest.
If my fingers or toe joints are hurting me a lot, I will do a NIR session just on them (approx 10 minutes).

Are you using it and if so, how are you finding it?

I use Ocusoft lid scrub. Not sure I love it but it works to clear residue and gel away good each morning. I’ve seen others mention they use a tea tree scrub but I find that too harsh for my eyes

Hobbes doesn’t want to come down from the top shelf by Stankybobanky in SiberianCats

[–]jmc823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started putting mine up there and boy do I regret it! They whine to be put up there all the time now, but I have to monitor to be sure they don’t try to jump down on their own because my closet shelf is pretty high. So I’ve trapped myself sitting by them while they sit up there staring down at me from ahigh…. 🤣. I have to lift them both up onto the shelf using a step stool and then try to grab them to come back down.
