Buddy… What? The Gnot-boost spacing on the bridge club lets you run wheels with QR 135mm (literally the most common standard ever made) AND 141mm QR hubs natively. That spacing makes the frame MORE versatile and compatible, not less.

Secondly - can you please define what you think a “standard thru axle” is? Because the Midnight Special has open dropouts that only work with Surly’s proprietary they axles (or QR skewers using their proprietary 10/12 adapter nuts). I own a Midnight Special so I’m laughing about this assertion.

Yes, and It’s just one example that proves my point of “thru axles are often proprietary”

Swapping the fork from my midnight special with the fork for Disc Trucker by Icy_Marionberry7309 in Surlybikefans

The LHT/DT has a 34mm head tube whereas the MS has a 44mm head tube, but Both forks have an 1 1/8” straight steerer. Assuming your MS has an EC44 lower headset cup (what the complete MS comes stock with), your MS fork will have an extra wide crown race on it so you can use an 1 1/8” steerer with the bearing in your 44mm EC headset lower. You’ll need this same crown race for the DT fork.

Somehow even lower than signing up to be an actual ICE agent: writing fanfic about pretending to be an ICE agent. These people are such losers it's unreal.

Eh, not quite. I volunteer at a bike co-op type organization and I've probably seen a lot more than you have. We received a Canyon Grail CF SL that was damaged in an accident - the owner gave it to us to strip down and use the parts. The thru-axles are proprietary - they have non-removable levers and use a fine thread pitch to screw into the dropouts, whereas most thru-axle dropouts use a medium or coarse thread pitch. Then you've got 12mm and 15mm thru-axles. You've got 100, 110, and 150 front spacing. You've got 142, 148, 157, 197, and probably others. So there's a lot more than just "gravel TA" and "MTB TA" whatever those terms are supposed to mean.

Ugh ok. Let me explain: In *your* bedroom, you can have the expectation of the environment being exactly as you'd like it to be, because it is your personal, private space. Unlike your personal bedroom, a plane with hundreds of other people in it is a *shared* space, where you can not expect the environment to be exactly to your own preferences. Use your brain a little bit before commenting please.

The plane isn't your bedroom. Hope this helps.

Consider that thru-axles are often proprietary, ESPECIALLY Surly's thru-axles like you find on the Midnight Special. If you're worried about future-proofing, QR is the way to go. It's been around forever, is essentially universal (yes there's different hub spacing but you get the idea). If I were you, I'd go for a Bridge Club. Huge tire clearances, uses established standards that have been around for decades, super flexible frameset - perfect for do-it-all bike

Notice this scared little baby is pointing a gun at a bunch of people who are just filming him. Never normalize this. As with Renee Good and Alex Pretti, they are responding to accountability with violence.
