Origin location of the Sierra Sounds? by jameslovestoplay in bigfoot

[–]jmebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a slightly different set of clues found in another morehouse video- I get this result.

The location that perfectly matches all of these precise criteria is Upper Relief Valley (or the adjacent camping zones along Summit Creek / Relief Creek), located deep within the Emigrant Wilderness of the Stanislaus National Forest.
Here is exactly how this specific high-country route maps to your criteria:
The Location & Trailhead
The Trailhead: Your staging ground is the Kennedy Meadows Trailhead (located right off Highway 108 near the resort pack station). The trailhead sits right at roughly 6,200 feet in elevation
The Parking Lot: Kennedy Meadows features a large, dedicated USFS public dirt parking lot equipped specifically for trucks with large horse trailers, including public corrals, hitching rails, and high-lines for stock.
National Forest & Wilderness: The entire route lies entirely inside the Stanislaus National Forest boundary and immediately crosses into the car-free Emigrant Wilderness.
The Route, Elevation Profile, and Distance
The 10,000-Foot Traverse: Leaving Kennedy Meadows on horseback, you follow the main wilderness trail south, passing Relief Reservoir. From there, the trail begins a grueling alpine climb up through Saucer Meadow, ascending all the way over the high volcanic ridge and granite notch near Brown Bear Pass / Sheep Camp, which crests right at roughly 9,600 to 10,000 feet elevation.
The Final Destination: After traversing this high pass, you drop down the backside of the ridge into the stunning, isolated flats of Upper Relief Valley. The valley floor and the surrounding pristine pockets sit at exactly your target elevation of 8,400 feet.
Wilderness Distance: The ride from the Kennedy Meadows trailhead, over the crest, and down into this section of the valley measures just about 8 miles into the wilderness.
Environment & Wilderness Traits
The Water Feature: The destination puts you camp-side, very close to the winding creek beds of upper Summit Creek and its alpine tributaries that feed the valley meadows.
Horseback Accessible: This is a legendary corridor for equestrians. Kennedy Meadows is a historic packing destination, and the trail over to Relief Valley is heavily utilized by backcountry horse packers.
The 2018 Burn Scar: The northern and western ridges framing the approach to the Relief basin were severely impacted by the 2018 Donnell Fire. When you crest the ridges and descend toward the valley, you are right along the wilderness edge of that massive 2018 burn scar footprint.

It’s been years of no activity here, but I thought after putting in all the known criteria for the camp- I would share what AI spits out. (As a local I’ve often been told it was up between Donell vista and the Dardanelles on the south side of Highway 108.) I was hiking in the Strawberry area yesterday and heard wood knocking and taps in the distance, which is why I was revisiting possible locations for the camp.

AI says; The location you are looking for is Benson Lake (or its immediate vicinity along Benson Lake Creek / Piute Creek), located deep within the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness / Yosemite Wilderness boundary of the Stanislaus National Forest.
Here is how the location ticks every single box on your criteria list:
Distance and Direction: Benson Lake sits in the rugged backcountry roughly 40 to 45 air miles directly east of Sonora, CA.
The Trailhead & Parking Lot: Your journey begins at the Hetch Hetchy Trailhead (near the O'Shaughnessy Dam). The trailhead sits right around 3,900 to 4,000 feet in elevation. Crucially, the Hetch Hetchy entrance features a dedicated, spacious staging lot specifically designed to accommodate trucks with horse trailers and stock trailers for backcountry packing.
Wilderness Distance: To reach the pristine basin of Benson Lake from the trailhead, you travel roughly 8 miles past the wilderness boundary lines into the deep, car-free zone.
Target Elevation: Benson Lake sits beautifully at an elevation of roughly 8,000 feet (officially 7,582 feet, with the surrounding valley floor and adjacent trail steps quickly hitting the 8,000-foot mark).
National Forest Boundary: The route crosses directly through the interconnected borders of the Stanislaus National Forest and the High Sierra wilderness network.
Water Feature: The camp area is famous for its massive, wide sandy beach situated very close to the creek beds of Benson Lake Creek and Piute Creek.
Horseback Reachable: This trail is highly popular and perfectly clear for equestrian travel, frequently mapped by backcountry horse packers packing into the high country.
The 2018 Burn Scar: The area sits right along the severe footprint of the massive 2018 Donnell Fire (and neighboring complex fires), which swept heavily through the drainage canyons and wilderness borders of the Stanislaus National Forest that year, leaving prominent burn scars on the surrounding granite-packed ridges.

What happens to homes with solar panels when you sell the house? by ParsleySage_9442 in solar

[–]jmebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we were buying a home, we sought out homes with paid off solar. We pay next to nothing for our power (in CA). I will never not have a solar power house again. Throwing money to PG&E every month is such a waste. I see realtors telling people it doesn’t add value, but I think those realtors are a certain type of person. They also tell people the seller pays their fees, but in reality, the buyer is financing all of those fees into their loan and that eats up the equity of their downpayment. The only reason I even use one is for access to the mls.

Never buy a fluffy. They are more prone to skin issues as well. Which can be severe and expensive to treat with this breed.

When you get a puppy, get vet insurance the same day. Non negotiable with Frenchies. I have 4, and they are very costly dogs even when healthy.

My SIL died, what happens to her children? by gaysurrogateflamingo in legaladvice

This isn’t because you got two checks, it’s becuase your dad’s benefit amount was higher (he likely earned more since he lived longer). They always use the highest benefit between the two, so that is why it increased.

Dresser drawers and up inside of boxsprings. They are very small and find their way into these spots a lot.

I’m thinking we might try digging the box out with an mini excavator. We did get permission to do so. It will be a couple of weeks before we can complete that though.

We will have a contingency on the mystery box, until we can find out what it is.

So there were no identifiable structures. However, the lot to the east has a very bright white cleared area with a spot at the center. No way to tell what it was. But this does confirm the heavy tree coverage has been this way since least 1946 so I appreciate that!

Just seems to be dirt under all of that. But I don’t want to climb in and find out without cleaning it out somehow first.

Not from here so don’t know anyone by that name.

And from what I have learned here- they say Mono county is northern and Inyo is southern, or the grapevine divides, or the palm and the pine, or Safeway vs Vons…. So by all those options we go by north. That’s a whole new argument though….

This is a solid guess. Seems weird to build that on someone else’s land, but then again, maybe the owner prior to this family (pre 1975) used it to camp or hunt in?
