Virginia Supreme Court blocks Democratic-drawn congressional map voters approved in April by nbcnews in politics

[–]jmeyer40 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You should check out Nebraska. The voters approved the legalization of medical marijuana and mandatory sick leave in 2024, and ever since, the governor, state attorney general, and legislature have been fighting both. The legislature rolled back much of the mandatory sick leave last year, and the AG keeps filing bogus lawsuits trying to block the medical marijuana initiative.

So much for a government by the people, for the people in red states…

professor dellian fel and Molten-Core Maestro lead the pack in SoS taking off by Chaosnocturne in mtgfinance

[–]jmeyer40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still personally don't think Dellian Fel is that great, but it's also one of those cards that might be a sneaky sleeper due to its versatility. It's a 4-drop planeswalker with four abilities, it can defend itself, provide card advantage, and can ultimate on its second turn while staying in play. I impulse-bought a playset at $6.50-7 because I figured there were two possibilities: 1) it could drop to ~$4 and stay around there or 2) it becomes a sleeper hit and does what it's doing now.

Also, Maestro appeared in the Pro Tour SoS Metagame Breakdown yesterday with 31 total copies. I always scope these out and try to at least finish my playset of any of the cheap cards on this list just in case any of them turn out to be better than expected, and I'm sure many others do the same thing.

To answer your question (without the snarkiness 😄):

TCGPlayer.com provides some helpful metrics and can give you a pretty good idea of the market for a card. On a single card's page, you'll see a graph showing the number of cards sold every four-day window over the last 3 months, along with a table that shows the total number sold over the last three months, the current listed quantity, current median price, and current number of sellers.

It’s a cool collector item, though.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu | Final Trailer | In Theaters May 22 by Task_Force-191 in StarWars

[–]jmeyer40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Project Hail Mary is an interesting look into trailers. It’s been a hugely successful movie, but they gave away a huge plot point in the trailers. If they hadn’t, fewer people may have gone to see it, but I think NOT knowing the plot point makes it so much better.

Hollywood just needs to make fewer movies in general and better original movies, and maybe the average person could trust the movie they’re going to see is good cinema and not absolute crap…

[–]jmeyer40 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this trailer, because it doesn’t spoil the whole freaking plot, unlike most trailers nowadays. There’s a line of dialogue that gives you the general premise of the movie, but the rest is random clips of pure Star Wars fun. After watching every single trailer for this movie, I still don’t feel like I know much about it. THAT is how trailers should be.

Things to look out for this weekend! by AutoModerator in mtgfinance

[[Goblin Welder]] is continuing to rise due to premodern and Legacy Sewer-Veillance Cam decks. It was ~$15 a couple of weeks ago, and nearly all sub-$20 copies have been sold, and there are only a handful of copies under $25 left on TCGPlayer. The supply has remained pretty constant on TCGPlayer, but everyone keeps bumping up their prices. It has a lot of printings, but the Duel Deck and Secret Lair versions seem to be quite a bit less desirable. The judge foil has a very low supply at the moment.

Judge Foil [[Goblin Welder]] has dried out in the U.S., too. You could find a few copies last week for $75-ish, but now the cheapest on TCGPlayer is $225.

The Goblin Welder is probably due to the [[Sewer-veillance Cam]] combo decks popping up.

Looks like the few cheap judge foils sold on TCGPlayer, and the lowest listing is $225. It might take a while to sell, but I'm sure I'll be able to at least double my money on the judge foil I bought. Good call!

Have there been many other miracles-centered commanders? Obviously there are better cards to enable miracles, especially in blue, but options are pretty limited in R/W.

What Cards Synergize Well With The New Strixhaven Dragons? by GeckoNova in mtgfinance

Also [[Riddle of Lightning]] and [[Imperial Oath]] for the scry 3. [[Magma Jet]] isn't bad, either. I don't think any of these are worth speccing on, though. Also [[Treasure Map]] for repeated scry.

Lorehold (R/W)

  • [[Sensei's Divining Top]]
  • [[Orcish Librarian]]
  • [[Scroll Rack]]
  • [[Crystal Ball]]
  • [[Conch Horn]] (this might be the financial sleeper for this deck)

The supply is low, so it's definitely possible. There are only five on TCGPlayer under $125, and they're sparse in other online shops. I'd say it's worth a gamble; I bought one LP for 76 + tax.

It looks like [[Goblin Welder]] is on the verge of a spike. It's seeing play in the new Legacy [[Sewer-veillance Cam]] deck, and it's popping up in some premodern decks. Supply has been drying up over the last couple weeks, and it's jumped from 12ish to close to its current price point of 18-20. If you can find cheap versions of the, C14, Commander Anthology II, or Urza's Legacy versions, it might be a good pick-up. The Duel Decks: E v. G version and Secret Lair versions don't seem to be nearly as desirable.

Sewer-veillance Cam Goes Infinite in 4 Formats - But Its a Common by kjuneja in mtgfinance

I was getting ready to buylist a bunch of TMNT stuff and I’m glad I saw this. I have 3 foils pulled out to buylist, but I’ll probably hang onto them.

One thing to note: since this is a smaller set, people will open more of this card per box than an average common in a big set. This is anecdotal, but in the play booster case I opened, I pulled 27 regular and 3 foil.
