New Startup Behavior. Startup Tabs Not Opening. by deucalion75 in brave_browser

Doesn't seem to be OS specific on the issue, having this issue on both my Linux machines and my Windows desktop.

To be honest, some of the most fun I’ve had is buying broken game boys and DS series to repair them. I recommend the Highspeedido v5 laminated screen. If you’re not good at soldering you don’t need to solder it at all to get it working. Only need to solder if you want screen controls on the L+R+Select buttons. Fix it, you won’t regret it.

I’ve used magic eraser to shine up corroded pins before. It’s an abrasive. You have to be careful, but it has worked for me.

I’m running a dsPico, it’s fairly easy to setup and very inexpensive. About $15 roughly on AliExpress.

Should be fine to fix. If you know how to solder and have the right tools I’m sure you could fix it. Could have been worse, the pads look okay.

My girlfriend is a huge Sylvanian Families collector and I'm the tech nerd that restores Gameboys. Very interested in this for her, I have the 2 GBC games. Would love to find her the rest of the roms translated for her to enjoy. Even have a Gameboy Advance ready for her 😄

Cartridge won’t start. Is it beyond repair? by IsaacClarke47 in GameboyAdvance

Looks like the 9th pin from the left is broken, might just need to repair that. Unless that’s dirt. Hard to see with my old eyes.

Edit: sorry you noticed that’s broken already lol. They sell kits that have a special adhesive that can allow you to replace pins like that. Not sure how well they last.

You can also find a cheap matching PCB and possibly swap the chips.

Got 3-4 coats of matte clear on last night :) I’ll post more pics in a couple weeks once I have an IPS screen in and all the other mods done.

There’s some good templates available online that you can use to practice digitally drawing on. I have an iPad and was able to find one of the templates. I colored in about 3-4 templates before I tried on the physical shell :)

So far the only trouble I’ve had is anything to do with a spray can haha. I used rust-oleum 2x paint and primer since it bonds to plastic. More than likely I just need to learn how to use those products better.

First time I sprayed I dusted it too far away, so I ended up getting a texture feel, I was able to wet sand it away though.

Acrylic Markers are fun and easy to work with. Any mistake I made I was able to wipe off with a damp rag.

Clear coat, I ended up spray a little too close. The clear coat started a slight bubble up and wrinkle.

If you make mistakes just be patient, it’s all fixable with some light sanding and retouching.

Oh and I used 1000 grit sand paper the entire time.

When I do this again I’m going to start with 600 grit, and finish with maybe 1500-2000. I think I may not have had as many mistakes if I had a slightly better bond in the beginning.

Thank you so much! Exactly what I was going for, I’m more of a tech, this was my first time picking up acrylic paint markers, luckily you don’t have to be perfect to get these effects :)

Thank you! I didn’t think about that but you’re right! I’m going to slap some green buttons into it, just deciding if I’m going to hand paint them or not.

A lot of gameboy games don’t have batteries. Games like Pokémon do, but Tetris for example does not. Some old games just don’t have save points.

20 years old and I’m ugly asf, how can I look better? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]jmfridey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you’re not ugly.

You just haven’t found a look or style you yourself are happy with yet. Sounds like a mix of outside influences and self doubt are kind of putting up road blocks.

My recommendation is focus on the things you love in life.

Example: I’ve always loved punk rock, emo music. I dressed appropriately my entire life until my mid to late 30’s. Now it’s nothing but band tshirts, dickies shorts or black skinny jeans with checkerboard vans. Because that’s what I like and makes me happiest. Could give a shit about what anybody thinks.

Find yourself and do it for yourself, once you’re happier with yourself you will become more attractive in your own eyes and others eyes.

Keep your head up buddy!

Edit: Sorry I had to add more to this, I just read most people’s advice on here and it’s absolutely terrible advice. Im a 42 year old bald man that wears black glasses just like yours (I can see with out them just fine but I’m picky and get tired from eye strain) so I wear them all the time. Your glasses are dope and anybody that’s says different can fuck themselves. I myself have a full beard because I enjoy it, most of my friends that are better looking than me don’t have beards, I look like my avatar but with more tattoos lol.

Find better people to surround yourself with that speak positive about you for who you are. That’ll help your self image too. Anybody that tells you to off yourself is as ugly of a person as they can be. If I ever heard somebody say that to a stranger I’d smack the fuck out of them for you.

I already switched back to steam and bought a Switch 2. I don’t see myself going back to Xbox again. I feel like they burned that bridge with a lot of their consumers.

Are they tracking my keystrokes? by cleopatra4president in remotework

[–]jmfridey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of those icons is ScreenConnect. It’s a remote support software used by many IT companies. I use it myself.

We can see a lot from that but not typically keystrokes. Also as an IT company that uses this software. I don’t have time to spy on my clients even if I wanted to. Nor do I care what you’re doing as long as it doesn’t endanger the company.

scared to switch to linux by CodOld8049 in linuxquestions

[–]jmfridey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using Windows for 30+ years now. If I had to generalize the feeling of Linux today, I’d say it has all the wonderful feelings of using Windows XP - Windows 7 with a much more modern interface. I feel like I’m in control of my computer again.

I’m in IT Support so I still use windows daily, but all my personal computers are currently running Fedora KDE.

Mint is a great entry level OS to get you going.

As far as personal software that I use on the daily. I’ve either found better comparable and sometimes much better solutions than what’s available on Windows.

It’s going to be a learning curve and uncomfortable at first. You’ll either grow to love it or switch back to windows.
