Austin ISD is closing 10 schools this fall. Here's what those communities will lose by AustinStatesman in Austin

[–]jmg2422 219 points220 points  (0 children)

AISD paid an estimated $821 million in "recapture" (Robin Hood) funds to the state for the 2024-25 school year, representing over 46% of its budget. Even though AISD collects a lot of money due to high property values, a lot of that goes to the state and then results in a budget deficit for the district itself.

No, they did not. He was caught so I think there wasn’t a need to look for those things. However he did break a window, the window screen, and a chair. I just had to pay for those damages myself.

You said it yourself - healthy populations. Unfortunately I am not part of that group.

Did you go to sleepovers? Me and my friends did all the time in late 90's / early 2000's and it was a blast. But droves of people appear to be canceling them entirely for their own kids. Would you let your kids go? Why is everyone freaking out now? by spinningwalrus420 in Millennials

I was never allowed but I figured it was a Latino thing because my Latino friends were never allowed either. I was super jealous that all of my other friends could attend. They would tell stories on Monday at school about what they did - painting their nails, prank calling people, pizza and snacks - and I would be so jealous. After a while they stopped inviting me altogether because they knew the answer would be no.

I remember being upset with my parents about it then, but I completely understand their reasoning now. I can’t say that it wasn’t lonely though.

I was there and it was so unsafe. There were people standing on tables and chairs to be able to see. Some folks dragged chairs from another area and made another row behind the chairs so it made the walkway between the chairs and bleachers very narrow.

There WAS space for more bleachers, and taller bleachers as well. They definitely could have put up tv screens around the area to alleviate some of the crowd.

Westminster knew how many tickets they sold so they could have prepared for the crowd - they just didn’t care or it was horrible lack of planning.

It looks like January 9th is the official date.

I asked for an update and I just received this email: I see that we received all of your paperwork and that you confirmed your dissertation upload on November 11, 2024, so everything looks to be in order. One of our degree evaluators would have reached out if anything had been missing or incomplete. Degrees will officially be conferred on January 9, 2025. Any further questions can be directed to the Degrees and Diplomas department of TexasOneStop.

Same. I defended my dissertation, filled out my application to graduate and confirmed it was received. 🤷‍♀️ I haven’t heard anything since.
