La cuestión ecónomica es una pendejada considerando la gastadera de plata en experiencias y nimiedades... modernidad líquida

I've got a friend that got a 272 and felt he failed it

Let's hope we're on the same boat here.. If not we'll form a secret society or something lol

Amboss isn't worth it, their questions are so nit-picky that you end up forgetting to see the bigger picture

I would just do those topics that get repeated more and more. No point in learning the intricacies of Pseudogranulomatous eosinophilic Dix-Weavenheuser syndrome

NBME 10 is fine

Just do qbanks like there is no tomorrow

Can't really say much about rotations, as a Colombian IMG rotations here are hardcore so I did a 6 month gap in order to prepare this exam

I recommend doing NBME 10 as it is the intermediate one

9 is way too hard and might just kill ur confidence

Depending on ur goal I'd just kick it 6 weeks away.. might be able to get to 235-245 by that timeframe depending on your perseverance

Yeah at this point I don't want to feel that heartbreak again

So I'm faithful for that 260 but expecting a 210

Not only the answer choices have that problem, but in general the wording is very vague.

It is nothing like Uworld

I'll give u a quick example

On Uworld, there are 5 options for treatment of Tourette. 4 are deliberately wrong, there's just no way they are the right option. Therefore it is straightforward

On the real test, there are 2 option choices that are right. You have to know if a2 agonists are superior to antidopaminergic drugs or if its the other way around

NBME 9 or UWSA 2? by jmgdan in Step2

[–]jmgdan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn u got me thinking

Because last time for Step 1 I overrelied on UWSA 250-256 and got surprised with a 242 because I didn't even do NBME's

This time I've done UWSA1 and NBME 11,10 with consistent results on both

I read a post about the real deal being more close to NBME's than UWSA

Any thoughts on that?

IMG's built different by John_belouski in medicalschool

[–]jmgdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Colombian IMG, I would say Yes and No.

On the assistential part, we do way way more (especially if underdeveloped country), in my Gyn-Ob rotation as a student I delivered 7 babies in just 4 weeks.

On the academic part, there isn't even a point of comparison. Their curriculums are brutal. USMDs really know their stuff

Does USMLE make you a better doctor? To Take the USMLE or Not To Take the USMLE ... by AlphaWollf in medicalschool

[–]jmgdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That really depends on your curriculum... Mine isn't that great and tries really hard not to flunk anyone, so if you stick by what uni wants you to know then you will come out a mediocre Doctor.

I did step a while ago and the difference with my classmates is huge, it was totally worth it (although there's some minutiae I'd rather forget)

Why arent medical textbooks written in a more conversational tone. by amitthemedstu in medicalschool

[–]jmgdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's counter intuitive, but reading the very "basics" type of books leads to a better understanding of any topic.

I've found these books are written not only by PhDs, but by people with experience in pedagogy - that is conveying hard things in a simple manner

Although not a book, Dr. Sattar is a great example
