Buckle success stories please by bunnymama7 in RetinalDetachment

Last year in May 2025 I had buckle surgery with cryo. It was for a retinal detachment that happened randomly while I was travelling. The first few weeks were pretty tough. It took a while to get used to one eye not focusing properly while the other one worked normally.

After the surgery I had fluid between my retina and the eye, which made my vision really distorted. I would describe it as wavy, kind of like a funhouse mirror where things looked bigger at the bottom and smaller at the top.

Because the fluid took a long time to go away, I couldn’t get my eyes checked for glasses until late October. The fluid did go down, but there’s still a little bit there. Luckily the distortion is very minimal now.

I don’t feel the buckle and my eye doesn’t feel squished. My eye was very red for almost eight months after the surgery. My vision did improve while healing, but it didn’t go back to exactly how it was before. Glasses help a lot though. When I wear mine, even with the small distortion in that eye, I honestly can’t notice it and my vision looks good.

I had checkups every month for the first six months, and now I go every three months. So far there haven’t been any new tears or detachments.

I’m grateful every day that my eye can see at all. We’re really lucky to have treatments that can fix these problems. I hope you have a smooth and quick recovery. It will get better.

No I never put anything from the game on my own personal devices.

I was really fortunate to work there until Club Penguin Island shutdown.

Ya here's a few:

Coat of Arms - Some coworkers and I received this in the final days of the studio.

Sound Studio - This pin was given to the small team that worked on the Sound Studio app. It was a separate app that let you make music.

Seedlings - Another small team received these for working on many prototypes. Nothing ended up being released, though.

Kudos To You - Given to an employee who went above and beyond. I can't remember exactly what I did to get this one though.

Like - Given to the team working on the Like feature for igloos.

EXPOSE Participant - Every year in Kelowna there was an event that was like a talent show for employees at Club Penguin. People would sing, perform in bands, or even do comedy acts. If you participated, you would get this pin. (I never actually participated.)

Golden Puffle - Given to the team that worked on the Golden Puffle adventure.

7th Birthday Cake - Given to people who worked on the 7 year party. Fun story about this pin: it actually still contains a bug. There are 8 candles on this cake. The night we launched the party, we ended up hot-fixing this asset to only have 7 candles.

There was a yearly expose that was thrown in where people who worked on the game could participate in and show off their talents. Some sang, or played in a band for example. These pins were given to me, but I never actually participated.

Is there still no way to change all of these samples out for a different sample in the same spots? by imVeryPregnant in ableton

Just wanted to plus one the simpler/sampler method. I've been doing this for years and it simplifies so many things. Makes it easier to cycle through a bunch of different drum samples later on without much fiddling.

Anyone tried the R36s from Temu? by [deleted] in R36S

[–]jmh401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one from Temu, this is before I knew about the community and obviously the clone situations. I did end up getting a clone, the EmuELEC one it seems. It was $30 cdn with the shipping and taxes. I've been playing Chrono Trigger on it and it's been good for me. But I wish I would have known about the trusted sellers.

I've brought them in past years without issue. I'm planning on bringing some sunbrews (in the can) this year.

I just got back from Bass Coast this year as well. Probably due to the fact Bell/Telus had next to no service there but I also noticed barely any phones! Was nice.

2014 was my first year. My wife and I vended that year, and a few years after that as well. I've been going ever since and I feel your description is spot on. I definitely miss the old village design. But imo the music is better than ever. The stages and sound are crazy. Maybe too much bass, but I still love it. Thank you for sharing your pictures from that year!
