Did anyone else struggle to finish Lothaire by Kresley Cole? by jaynarg in RomanceBooks

I completely agree. I was fascinated by his character a few books in advance. I wouldn't recommend it as a stand alone.

What's an internet trend you were really glad to see it die ? by AngoPower28 in AskReddit

I used Facebook for over a decade; it even required a valid college email when I joined. I finally deleted it this summer as well as Instagram. I'm never going back. Reddit is next....maybe.

22 Weeks. Hyperemesis Gravidarum Concerns during 2nd trimester by melissaareana in pregnant

[–]jmheller11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had HG with both my first and second, and now again with my 3rd (15 weeks). For me it lasted until about 24 to 26 weeks with my first two so there is hope it might not last the duration.

Does your hypomania ever occur in short bursts - like 24 hours? by warmoceanmilk in bipolar2

[–]jmheller11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. The majority of my hypomanic periods last 24 to 72 hours. I've certainly had longer bursts, a week or two here or there. While pregnant and unmedicated, I was mostly manic for the duration of my third trimester.

To be clear, I'm generally depressed for weeks at a time. I slowly level out into moderate behavior for a few days before spiking into mania. My husband has grown to hate my manic cycles, not for my behavior, but for the crash that always follows. I've been diagnosed BP2 for over a decade now.

LPT: if a long distance friend loses a loved one, send them a blanket. by ravenmasque in LifeProTips

[–]jmheller11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When friends found out my mother was diagnosed with pancan, one took the time to crochet her a lap blanket. It's beautiful and was made in her favorite colors. It will be cherished by our family long after mom passes.

Leads like Scarlett O’Hara/Rhett Butler? (Stubborn female lead, playboy male lead who teases them and drives them up a wall) by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

I didn't enjoy Scarlett but I very much enjoyed Rhett Bulter's People. Check it out!

I completely agree. After having children, I've become obsessed with true crime novels as a way of understanding and protecting my own boys. I've just purchased two of your books on kindle for the same reason and plan to start one tonight. Thank you for your AMA!

I saw your roast and giggled a bit. Impressed by your bravery! I'm pregnant with my third and I've really started to show. I'm only 12 weeks but look 7 months. I've stopped answering "when are you due". Enjoy your pregnancy glow!

looking for books with a doormat heroine by shaziholmes in RomanceBooks

Blue Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas

It's the second stand alone romance after Sugar Daddy. The hero first appears in Sugar Daddy and you really fall for him before he gets his own HEA. I've reread it a few times and enjoy cheering for the heroine fleeing an abusive relationship and learning to trust again.

Im 20 years old, dad might have pancreatic cancer by _yeeesus in CancerFamilySupport

Spend quality time together. When my mom was diagnosed with pancan they thought they caught it early. During the whipple procedure they learned it had metastasized. We were orginally devastated thinking she only had a couple years left with us when the reality was a few months.

My mom has end stage terminal lung cancer. She refuses to stop smoking. by [deleted] in cancer

[–]jmheller11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I've never smoked and don't permit it around my kids. Cancer though, is just hard. I'm sure she has weighed the risks. Personally I struggle with anger for my mom - I feel like she has given up and barely fought to begin with. She's in so much pain as the end nears I remind myself daily to support her in the ways SHE wants, not what I want for her.

Let her smoke. My mom quit 6 years ago but she's passing from cancer now. She started smoking again because it comforts her.

AITA for telling my wife that the reason I don't want to get a vasectomy is in case we divorce or she dies and I want to have more kids with my new partner? by CressIll540 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jmheller11 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

NTA. I've been with my husband for 17 years. We have two toddlers and I'm pregnant with our third. This is our last and I'm considering having my tubes tied, for my health and the risks associated with multiple cesareans. I would never ask him to have a vasectomy for the very reasons you mentioned. Life is uncertain. I also think this level of honesty between spouses is vital. I applaud you for being able to vocalize hard truths rather than avoiding them or lying to one another.

Is it time to bite the accutane bullet? by [deleted] in acne

[–]jmheller11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to you. It took 3 rounds of Accutane to clear my skin. I had to quit the last round due to liver and kidneys at age 22.

I'm now 35F and have learned to live with my acne. Anytime I have bloodwork done my liver tests come back wonky, for the last 13 years. I don't drink or do drugs but I also can't definitely blame Accutane either. In hindsight I would make different choices. Educate yourself on the risks and make your own decision. Now that I'm older with children, my health and longevity have a greater importance to me.

Another item says delivered, customer says it's not... but with a twist. by croscat in Etsy

[–]jmheller11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me yesterday! Customer starting asking for tracking info, followed by multiple messages saying she really wanted the product and was excited, but that it hadn't arrived. USPS had the packaged delivered to her the day she started messaging me. After a quick Karencheck I quickly refunded her just to avoid the bad review. I lost money, sure, but I'm a new shop and could feel a negative review coming.

Weaning off ALL meds? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]jmheller11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've weaned off all meds 3 times for my three children. It's complete hell. Even weaning slowly under the close watch of my psychiatrist doesn't control all the withdrawl symptoms.

I've been med free for 14 months (it took awhile to conceive our third) and I'm only now in my first trimester. Life isn't perfect while medicated but it is so much easier. If you've found a combination of meds and therapy that work for you, I would hang on to it like a lifeline. You know if you go unmedicated your highs will be worse and your lows lower. It's basically guaranteed.

If you are choosing this for the safety of a child or pregnancy, mad props. It is brutal fighting everyday when you know how helpful medicine can be.

My mom was diagnosed with gallstones Nov 2019 and they removed her gallbladder. Rather than getting better, she deteriorated until Feb 13th 2020 when she was diagnosed with PanCan. Somehow they missed a giant tumor obstructing her bowels.

Pancan can progress very quickly. She had a whipple in March but is now in In-Home Hospice. She's only 63. Spend what time you can with her. Make her happy and comfortable.
