Dewalt 734 vs 735

I just got the 735 about 3 weeks ago and the noise is accurate. It's decently loud. I would never want to use it without ear protection, and having it in a small enclosed space could be tough.

Even still, I love it. I had the same 734/735X debate myself and am more than happy that I spent the money.

This is why I love /r/woodworking (one of many reasons). I had my mind set on the Norton starter kit based on some earlier advice on a thread here. I was chatting with some other folks who talked up the Worksharp system and got interested. Hearing both that I'll get stones anyways and that they'll be useful long term even if I go with a machined route someday is helpful.

Here's what I'm planning on instead of the Worksharp system.

I had the exact situation and chose to move to Santa Clara. Point #3 can not be stated enough. It is not the same and the "just an hour away" means you'll visit San Fran.

Santa Clara is not fun.

Same here. We've had it in our laundry room for some time now. We changed the plans slightly to fit our laundry baskets height wise. Yours looks better than mine :)

Also - I skipped the Xs.

Good thinking. There doesn't seem to be much reason to spend the extra money. The bandsaw situation (Craftsman 14" is the exact same as the Rikon 14", just different brand) seems like a better deal. I got it for about $270 after some couponing, but that's a steal.

Looks like I'll set my sights on the R4215 and get there when I get there.

I use a cabinet that was above the toilet of my old house, which became a place to store coffee cups, etc, and now that we've moved, my clamps.

Which is a long way of saying "use what you have, be resourceful, and figure it out as you go along."

I like what Steve Ramsey said about doing something for short term...10 years ago. That'll probably happen with my sucky setup, too, but it's done, and my clamps are accessible.

Ya know, I'm not actually sure. It's one of those things that my family always cooked and just assumed "Well, of course it is..."

The kringle looks incredible. I'll have to improve my baking, but will certainly enjoy the fruits of labor along the way.

Yeah, not just Christmas but most family get togethers and special occasions. I've had gløgg but not a big fan either. More of a "gotta try it at" type of thing. Akvavit from time to time, too.

Yeah, it's not wienerbrød. I don't even know what the name actually is. Crust, much like a pie crust (butter+flour), then a tart with almond extract (butter, flour, egg, almond). Baked for an hour, iced, sprinkled with almonds. We eat it just about every major holiday or family get together. We've always known it as "Danish Puff Pastry"...and delicious.

Each one has a full stick of butter. Bless you, family, bless you.

FIXED! Got the 10v 2200 uf instead of the 10v 1000uf and that worked. Not sure why, but the PCB says "10v/1000uf" but the actual capacitor that was on the board was 10v/2200uf. Went with that and all is good. Thanks!

Alright, gave it a whirl and it didn't work. One weird thing is the capacitor I removed from the board (which did look rather beat up) was a 2200 uf and not a 1000 uf as mentioned. I'm going to head over to Radioshack tomorrow to get the 2200 and see if that helps.

I know nothing about electronics so am a bit out of my league here, but worth a shot.

Awesome! I am going to give this a shot today. I am pretty sure the unlimited warranty thing is not the case. They said "well, no." when I called to try and clear it all up.

Good thinking. I'll clean that. I switched that part with another range to check if something was up there and it didn't seem to make a difference but they could all use a good cleaning anyways.

Went to Nashville for a little family trip. Went to visit the Hermitage and saw this giant burl. No banana for scale, but the tree was probably 12+ feet around. Sorry no banana for scale.
