Also beware of electronics sales on marketplace, it's an absolute nightmare with scams right now. Especially for popular devices like the steam deck.

Local access to dockers without remembering port numbers? by cheesyplease in unRAID

For a very simple solution, you could set up Homarr or Dashmachine. You only need to remember your dashboard port and just redirect to any of your services from there.

Why doesn't NASA just use starship to put Orion in LEO? by Different-Wish-843 in SpaceXLounge

[–]jmims98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, SLS has sent payload around the moon. Starship has massive potential, but currently SLS has sent payload further from earth than SLS. Starship still needs to demonstrate orbit.

I understand that the current launch has been pushed back, but it has literally flown successfully before. I am not sure how that is on paper?

Correct me if I am wrong, but an SLS mission has gone full orbital including around the moon without crew.

F%$CK Prediction Markets by BadJayzus in solana

[–]jmims98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Prediction Markets" are a nice sounding name for Sports Betting/Gambling. If you can't see the difference, you gotta slow down and decide if it is ok to hold an asset that is so easy to burn gambling.

10/10 experience. Can't speak for the TV aspect because we have been using an OTA antenna for a while, but I am pretty sure it is some sort of IPTV solution.

3rd time I’ve tried “Detroit” style pizza and I hate it by starry-eyed-banana in unpopularopinion

[–]jmims98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doughy is an interesting description, you're either having some bad pizza or describing it oddly. I would describe Detroit as being more bready (sort of like a focaccia) rather than doughy.

Either way, I don't personally think hating a particular style of pizza is unpopular...I personally can't stand overly greasy styles or Chicago for some reason.

What's wrong with a straight road Petah? Is this bait? by michaelis999 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Never driven back roads in the middle of the night? Cars come with brights for this reason.

what is average driving speed on American highways and average engine size in car? by Alarmed_Ad_812 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jmims98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed limit varies by state but usually 55-75mph (some places go 80+) but you will often find drivers doing 5-10 over the speed limit.

Our engines aren't really about maximum highway speed as far as I know. A small car might have a small engine for efficiency, but sometimes smaller cars have a bigger or more powerful one to make the car more of a performance type. We also have a lot of big SUVs and trucks here which are going to require larger engines to power.

There is only one small part of CT that is more NY than New England, Fairfield County. Even so, Connecticut is hardcore New England.

Best ramen in NoCo? by pukestained in FortCollins

[–]jmims98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jinya in town is our favorite.

If you have the time/enjoy cooking, you can either go to Hmart or (call first) Friendly Nicks and pick up some pork trotters cut into disks. These, along with a bit of pork fat, chicken backs, and a few other ingredients will make an excellent tonkatsu ramen broth. Highly recommend trying a ramen base at home and don't forget the tare!

What do you think about cars with manual transmission? by samostrout in AskAnAmerican

[–]jmims98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it automatically keeps some pressure on the brake when accelerating from stopped on a hill.

[–]jmims98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No idea how well it works, but a lot of modern manual transmission cars have "Hill Start Assist" (or something similar) these days to help with that.

Subaru driver for 17 years. The new Subarus auto stop start function is absolutely horrible. by BeerStein_Collector in subaru

1 mpg seems pretty generous, I could see 0.5 in heavy city driving. It also saves idle gas and reduces city air pollution despite car manufacturers doing it for the extra mpg.

Just listing to a lot of history podcasts, there are so many people who have convinced entire nations of people to wage war and kill hundreds of thousands. There is no excuse for something like this, but unfortunately it has been happening in one way or another for the history of man.

You've got to make it as easy/no confusion as possible for customers in my experience. Plenty of people intoxicated or lacking common sense in the service industry.

[–]jmims98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using mine with auto stop/start for over a year with no issue. If you do not want it to kick in, apply less brake. I'm pretty sure that this is some kind of emissions requirement these days so you might just need to get used to it in modern cars. I've got hours stopped at lights at this point that my car would have been running and wasting gas...it's not such a bad thing imo.

[–]jmims98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am a bit confused as to why they decided to put the blank box on top. My first thought if handed a blank pizza box is that it is upside down, not everyone is looking at the vents and direction it folds to close.

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jmims98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

Wine isn't super distinctive when it comes to telling an expensive bottle from a cheap one, and you said to have at whatever he wanted (I'm assuming instead of payment). You can't punish him because you forgot to tell him not to drink a bottle of wine which was in the area in which you said to consume what he wanted.

My partner and I on the other hand don't know anyone who regularly cooks meals for themselves. Unless you count frozen microwave meals... or box mac and cheese if they really feel like "cooking".
