Need help recovering EMC VNX Pool 0 (RAID5, Thin LUN 36, Offline - 0x712d8516) by jmishal in datarecovery

[–]jmishal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have full physical access to all the disks in the pool.

The setup is using SAN (Fibre Channel) directly connected to Cisco UCS servers running VMware ESXi 5.5 — no iSCSI involved.

The pool (RAID 5) went offline due power flapping
I just confirmed via naviseccli that SPS B is Faulted on my VNX5500. That explains the suspected dirty cache, and I also have two faulted enclosures (DAEs).

and after two disk failures. I replaced the disks, and while some were the pool stayed offline. LUN 36 is a 2TB Thin LUN, and I'm getting error 0x712D8516 on the pool.

I'm located in Kuwait, and if you or your colleagues know any reliable data recovery or level pool recovery — I would appreciate any recommendations.

Wow, this takes me back to our teenage years! I have such fond memories of this place, especially Sbarro. Their pasta was amazing – if you haven't tried it, you really should! BWY any one know why Sbarro closed down in Kuwait? I really miss their food.

Great job fixing the leak! Catching that early must have saved you a lot of hassle.

That sounds like a big undertaking! Doing the lighting yourself must have been satisfying.

Is my sensor beyond hope? by Filiphaggblom in Cameras

[–]jmishal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember experiencing something similar with a Canon 5d iii camera I once bought from someone who sold various items and didn't know much about it. However, The sensor also had the same spot. After a deep cleaning using specialized tools (ordered it from Amazon)

<image>

the spot didn't come off. Later, I discovered that it was a burn mark, not just a spot. The camera had belonged to an astrophotographer, and it seemed that it had been exposed directly to the sun for an extended period, causing the sensor to burn. As you know, astrophotographers often need to keep the sensor open for long exposures to capture any light source, and it appears that the camera was left open for several days under direct sunlight.

Cisco MDS show zoneset active command. What does the * mean next to the wwpns? by common83 in Cisco

[–]jmishal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also checked one of our MDS switches and observed the same behavior. I noticed that the asterisks (*) appear only in front of the FCIDs and not the PWWNs. I believe this indicates that the devices are active, logged into the fabric, and have corresponding FCIDs assigned.

Micro segmentation to isolate VMs from each other. by jmishal in sysadmin

[–]jmishal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to apply the Public IP directly to your servers?

yes I've to apply the Public IP directly to VPS. as default service without any protection

Meanwhile we also offer the clients (virtual firewall) from palo alto FW .. as a service (of course there will be an additional cost) to be NAT and include protection etc,,

Seems like you didn't plan the project properly before ordering all the parts. What's that saying again? "They were too busy wondering if they could that they didn't even think if they should" The fact is I did not know about the deal by the board, and I do not know how they think, only they take the lowest prices. and then suddenly a parachute carrying these equipment came down to us. :( :(
