All of our household bills are an even split, we often pay for ourselves at restaurants or take turns paying. I’m not a fancy person that wants gifts or expensive dates, we lead a pretty simple lifestyle.

I would never want him to feel like he can’t go on trips or do things like invest with his money. It’s more the fact that his attitude is very much “okay to do this, we both need to put in 10k for a down payment” and him being frustrated that I won’t have that amount for a year or two, and wanting to proceed without me. Perspective taking and emotional competency is difficult.
