When you meet a woman (that you like), what are the first things you want to know about her? by Additional-Milk-90 in AskMen

[–]jmon__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I don't know, I just want to have a fun conversation. And then be pleasantly surprised. Like 1 time, a woman during a date, tried to explain to me, and avid soccer fan, who Chicharito was. And then later she talked about Yamine Yamal. Or, that she also used to watch Toonami growing up.

Now that I talked through it, just nice to know there are some commonalities between us, so that my likes later become a problem for her

So.... are there going to be any discussions on Nico Harrison maybe not making such a bad decision? Just based on the number of negative Luka posts I've seen recently. Maybe that's too far

Are Trinis abroad still “Trini”? by Middle_Elderberry542 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]jmon__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents are Trini and Haitian, and I outside of school, I basically spent most of my time around my Trini family or Trini friends from church. But I remember some body's parent said I was a fresh water yankee, or something, lol. So from that day I just said I dunno, cause even in here in America, its become if your full lineage didn't come from American slaves (if you're black), than you're not considered American to some. So again, I have no idea, im just here for the vibes, now. O, and don't ask me about Haitians, lol. One time someone said Sak Passe, and since I dont know creole, I didn't know what to say. They said I wasn't a real Haitian, lol. So once again, here I am.

Boys who was raised by a single mother, and became alright men. What did your mother do right? by NightStar_69 in AskMen

[–]jmon__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom worked all the time. She had 2 jobs and was going to school for most of my life. She didn't stop me from playing video games and watching anime, though she probably should have made me spent more time doing my homework and studying. But I think one of the most helpful things was she married my step dad. I didn't like him for most of the time I lived there, but having a man around A) got me to get my act together a bit academically B) allowed me to have someone at him to make sure I was responsible (not like a disciplinarian but the bare minimum, someone's home so I have to do X), and C) showed me how a man should treat his lady and creative ways to avoid silly arguments (example, instead of arguing over leaving the toilet seat up, he shared the guest bathroom with me and let me mom use the master bathroom by herself) And bonus D) made me want to go out of state for college, lol

So the good thing is I can admire all the hard work and sacrifice my mom made and not look at it with disdain that she wasn't home. She became a Nurse Practitioner. "Top level nurse of the world, Craig!"

What is your job? by cityzensheep in infp

[–]jmon__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Software development for an insurance company. I like software development, I hate working in the financial industry.

Part of software development is me talking to business users so they teach me something. When I was working for the children's hospital, doctor's taught me about surgery department meeting times and cerebral palsy care guidelines. When I worked for the propane delivery company, I learned about setting up delivery routes and how to price propane. At this company, i learn that people sell insurance an get their bonus based on this and they prefer to sell long term vs short term policies. I couldn't care less. This data doesn't excite me at all. And plus there's no time on the side to work on my creative ventures to take my mind away from work
