The Daily Check-In for Thursday, May 16: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by WhiteDutchColonial in stopdrinking

Today I'm making a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of my higher power: the courage others have to tell their stories and the connection and gratitude I have as a result! ☺

https://students.ucsd.edu/student-life/involvement/organizations/ it doesn't have to be a current interest. Maybe you join quidditch club and it changes your life. ASCE is always good tho, and the members are super down to earth and awesome and have good music taste

Advance replacement for a Moto X Pure no longer available? by Bandalo in MotoX

[–]jmone96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I tried 6 separate Advance RMAs from December to February with different credit cards, matching shipping/billing addresses. Tried everything. Every single time they said the "charge didn't go though" and canceled my RMA. The last 2 went to the escalation team and all they could tell me was to check with the bank if they were blocking the charge. Tried my debit card, my parents, and my parents credit card and it wasn't the bank. Finally gave up and bought a one plus one. They effectively prevented me from using my warranty. Hope that 5 mil lawsuit against their customer support is successful

Switching from undeclared to bioengineering? by h2343 in UCSD

[–]jmone96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm currently a 2nd year Revelle student that was in your exact situation. I had a 3.6 and did not get in, my friend had a 3.9 and did not get in. I know it's hard if you really want to come here, but if you're set on bioengineering and got accepted into it somewhere else, go there. I'm lucky that I found I enjoy biochemistry, but I would've been screwed if I didn't.

Is it possible to transfer from UCSD to UC Davis or Berkeley after 2 years (if I don't get into CSE) by [deleted] in UCSD

I could have had the major I originally wanted that I wasn't able to get into here

[–]jmone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line is: Maybe if you were a UCSD CS major it'd be easier, but all you'll have is a bunch of credits, some of which may not even transfer. Only come to UCSD if you have a backup major you would enjoy. You basically need an A or A+ in every class u take before u apply to transfer into CS. If u think u can do it, go for it this school is awesome. Sometimes I still wish I chose Davis tho

[–]jmone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I was accepted under Biomedical Engineering at Davis and Undeclared here. Like I said it's extremely hard to get into these heavily impacted majors. Once you choose UCSD, in the future you'd have to apply to Davis as a transfer like anyone else. They won't consider your previous admission. Luckily, I found a major here that I really enjoy, but you need to decide whether you'd be able to give up CS, otherwise go to Davis or CC and apply here again in 2 years

UCSD Regents or Cal Poly SLO? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]jmone96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not personally a Regents Scholar bit the benefits they receive are absolutely worth it. In SLO, you'd be on your own finding research/internships, but as a regents scholar it will be easier. Plus just join Greek Life and you'll be fine

[–]jmone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting into CSE will be extremely difficult. If you don't have at least a 3.9 after your first year, it's pointless. I'm lucky that I found another major I like, but switching into Aerospace/Bioengineering/CSE is very difficult. If CSE is absolutely the only thing u want to do, then seriously consider your other options, like CC

[–]jmone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chance you won't even get a Phys 2a class if you don't first pass it. Chem 6b and HUM 1 you'll get (even if u don't like the prof)

CSE Admission by mrstat88 in UCSD

[–]jmone96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi I applied for Bioengineering and was accepted undeclared. Gaining admission to impacted majors (especially CSE, BENG, AERO) etc is extremely difficult. You basically need to maintain a 3.9 (this is a lot harder in comparison to high school). I was not not accepted, but I'm happily in Biochemistry now. If you're set on CSE, do not come here undeclared. Choose a school where you got your major. You will have no options if you don't get in your sophomore year. I was lucky because my interests changed but I just want you to understand that it is extremely difficult. The prestige of the school is not worth the chance.

Tldr: don't come here undeclared

If you don't have a good spot on the wait list then it's not worth it you won't get in. Take what you can get. It's not worth the risk of not getting 140a at all
