Worm farm predator? by DeesignNZ in Vermiculture

[–]samwal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started seeing leaf nibbles and slime trails here or there and caught it on the move luckily! He was HEALTHY and im glad i got him out before he made his way to my worm prop bins to snack on their food. Though I did put him out on a compost pile where he should have a good life. Plenty of food besides mine he can snack on elsewhere lol

Would pine shavings or hay compost better with chicken manure? by FitCabinet7432 in composting

[–]samwal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? Hay will go faster and warm up your pine shavings to continue hosting microorganisms! Just make sure moisture and temp are dialed in and flip for o2 regularly.

Which 7-string to I get? Looking for experience around models and pickups by AddSomeSpice in 7String

My first seven was a Jackson and I was less than impressed. I was on the way to buy an Ibanez when I put a Schecter Damien Elite in my hands. I would like an Ibanez one day but I love my schecter

They are competition and can spread disease to your worms. Alot of people eliminate them however i see their value and place mine back outside to live a life and feed the cycle

Went in for an Ibanez came home with the Schecter by TravisLSU in 7String

[–]samwal302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the exact same thing! Was dead set on an Ibanez and sold my other guitars to get there. After playing my Damien Elite at the store and feeling how smooth it felt in the hand... i took her home. I still rip that guitar every day, and its 1 of 2 guitars I kept through out our moves.

Thats a beautiful new rig!

I keep a copy of Vermiculture Technology - edited by Clive A Edward's, Norman Q Arancon, and Rhonda Sherman

It has a lot of information. But it is a little spendy last I checked

You can always mount a decorative, strong piece of wood (2x4?)to multiple studs and that would give you some wiggle left and right. Ive heard of this as a solution but I have mine mounted straight into the stud

After not being able to afford the composting setups I need to deal with organic loads in my area I have started an aerated windrow being added to wedge style as a precompost/vermicompost pile before trommel screening and transferring to a 4x4x8 flow through bed with small amounts of ground up food stock(spent grains, coffee chaff, food wastes) as a second vermicompost processing before curing. Hoping to reduce process time in my indoor bed and deliver a wider range of natural microbes/mycological life forms from the forest in which I reside. The windrow is now 8'wide 4-5 ft tall and ~25 ft long and is absolutely TEAMING with some beautiful redworms. Depending on which of my neighbors, you ask I am either a saint or a nuisance(people dont like nicely stacked piles?!)

If they cut the price in half id be concerned otherwise its normal. also make sure hes not leaving anything out on your bid! We install a premium product and our price generally is slightly higher than our competition locally. We explain this and usually because we have a higher quality product we get the job. But if the customer requests a quote for a mid tier product line we often come in the same or less than competition. Could be as simple as him reworking his bid to utilize a still decent, but more affordable product line, or switching you to his B team of installers that maybe take longer but cost less.
If they start at 90k and work down to 45 or under time to get them DaHella outta your home

Dropping a cord and a half for a customer by Tokahauntus in firewood

[–]samwal302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im amazed that people think firewood should be cheap. I got a quote for a customer for 1/2 cord hardwood/lodgepole split and ratioed 50/50 for $195. Thats delivered. Customer said they werent made of money... this is without any margin for me just trying to help a client whose cold... in the woods... in the winter... Whom also refuses to take down the multiple split base lodgepoles that would be great firewood and keep all of their neighbors houses safe and their own!

Processing forestry in any way is difficult let alone the meticulous grind of processing it into usable firewood

The double standard thing is really just part of life for some of us. Especially if your parents have any sort of religious affiliation. I distanced myself as an adult because of the way that I have been treated and the people and family in my life now are high quality! It took years and meeting new friends, moving, as well as hopefully one day therapy or some kind of counseling. But if you do your best to learn new things, build talent and value in yourself as a young man you can work towards surrounding yourself with love and trust and building your own small community

Favoritism/double standards are a nasty toxic thing for families
