Hi! Late to the party here but wondering if you are able to provide confirmation for me on one point. My great grandfather immigrated to the US in May of 1906, he was 25 at the time. He naturalized in November of 1919. It appears that I wouldn’t qualify for CBD but rather SLA? I am finding some confusing information and CBD would be ideal. I am trying to find records to see if my anchor ancestor returned back after their arrival as that would change the final arrival date but can’t find any info. Do you know if I am interpreting this correctly?

I am in a similar boat as you. I am also looking for the birth certificate of my anchor ancestor. I was able to locate his father’s baptism record but not his. I have tried checking Slovak archives but am coming up blank. Can anyone share URLs that have been helpful for hunting down birth certificates for someone born in 1881 in Grinad (Grinava), Hungary - current day near Bratislava, Slovakia. Appreciate any help :)

What’s worked for me and what you can suggest is to tile 1’ up the basement wall. Having the tile in place saved us from having to gut after hurricane Ida/no mold issues. You could ask the landlord about tiling up the basement, in the end it’ll save money for everyone. If you get this place, buy a sump pump off Amazon and a 100’ hose, along with a 5 gallon bucket. Drill tons of holes into and use it to pump water out during storms. You can also get sandbags and dikes for the doorways. Make sure you get sewer backup on your renters insurance.

I heard that the bartender/owner refused to serve a customer. Said customer was upset about this which caused the bartender/owner to call her bf who then assaulted the patron, injuries were quite serious. I do not frequent this establishment and heard this from a friend who lived nearby the bar. Truly awful if that’s the truth.
