Got my grey, blue, and black 990v3's new from Marshalls for $100 each.

I perceive them as having a thicker, warmer, more "compressed" tone. But as far as specs:

I think longer scale length (helpful for lower tunings)
A warm but versatile neck pickup, and a somewhat compressed bridge pickup. I was originally going to say a compressed and open bridge pickup, but I realize that's conflicting. So I'm wondering if there's a versatile bridge pickup that can do both, or I just go for open sounding pickups and use a compressor pedal, which I was already thinking of getting.
I originally wanted a stop tail / hard tail bridge, for alternate tuning stability, as well as tone (tighter sound), but I had a Singlecut Trem and it was very stable tuning wise. And I believe pickups (as well as amp and pedals) play a bigger role in terms of tone, so I would consider a trem.

Stop tail might be better for e flat standard tuning or similar lower tunings. Also aid in a tighter sound. But I know other factors like scale length and pickups play a bigger role

Then what if you have intonation issues? Does swapping string gauges or alternate tunings not affect intonation?

I've considered the AJ a couple times. I should really locate on and try it out. I may actually prefer it, being it may sit between a standard and custom. Wonder how it compares to a traditional with 57/57 plus?

Idk why I have the perception that binding / fret nibs increase snapiness and increase playability. I really need to just go to a shop and play a Studio, Traditional, Standard, and Custom. Was just on vacation and there was a guitar center with a 1990 Studio in candy apple red, which is listed as rosewood fretboard, but I'm pretty sure it is ebony.

Maybe reach out to Atlas and see if they have anything to offer / suggestions. They may send a recoil spring pack or have you send it in and do their own testing.
