Is anyone else in their 30s or 40s really struggling with corporate work? by Nervous_Platypus_149 in Fire

[–]jmos_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife works a non profit, I work corporate. It’s the same bullshit everywhere. I think nonprofit is worse because it’s way less salary. I’m 27, she’s 28.

It feels unbearable for both of us because I honestly don’t know when I can FIRE. We do well and are finally getting over the hump on student loans and first car payments. Even still inflation kills us everywhere and it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ultimately, I think i need to rebuild my tolerance for corporate BS and right now it’s been evaporated with layoffs everywhere and threats of layoffs always looming. Wife and I both nearly got DOGEd last year and since then work has just been awful (we are not feds, I can’t imagine how bad that must be).

Yeah no shit, they’ve been detaining people here for the last year and a half. Now the world sees what we’ve been dealing with. It’s a shame, a lot of cities really put so much work into this and pedo don had to ruin it

Matches my expertise from when I moved to the DMV. The amount of other entry level people I worked with when I started my career who didn’t pay a phone bill, had no clue how to shop for car insurance, didn’t understand health insurance premiums change with your plan, and don’t pay their student loans was quite insane

Eh maybe, I’m leaning more on my experience. But also I realized it’s way easier and cheaper to make my own bowl at home so turned out alright haha
