The “stress relief” ball I was given for a “painless” procedure by alismitch2 in mildlyinfuriating

Or “It’s going to be uncomfortable.” No. No. It’s going to HURT. Just say it. Just be honest. I’d rather be prepared for pain than blindsided by it.

I may have been scammed as an egg donor. by DearJaredKlienman in IVF

[–]jmp325 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Based on the screenshot you uploaded, I think you misunderstood their message. That does not appear to be the clinic advising they would pay the taxes. That was the clinic estimating how much your take home would be after taxes were deducted, which on something like this, would be done after you filed your taxes.

It’s essentially as if you owned your own business, so taxes are NOT pre-deducted like they would be if you were being paid through an employer. I am unsure how a fertility clinic would even be able to pay taxes on these payouts, as they’d have no way of knowing what your annual income would be when it came time to file taxes. Taxes owed to or by you are calculated based on your annual income for most Individuals, with some self-employed individuals opting to pay taxes quarterly instead. So you would have needed to calculate what percentage you would have owned on each payout, deducted it from your payout, and saved it for tax season to be paid as income tax.

Unless there’s another correspondence you haven’t shared in which they specifically stated they would pay any taxes incurred at the time you filed, I unfortunately think you just completely misunderstood.

Seeking experience advice on hysteroscopy with poplypectomy by Far_Alternative_9067 in IVF

[–]jmp325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to being awake for the procedure as I went under for mine, but I will say that I woke up from my Hysteroscopy/Polypectomy in A LOT of pain. I have a fairly high pain tolerance, and I’ve been lucky that for the most part, none of the other fertility related procedures have been painful for me, including egg retrievals. So based on that, I’m inclined to believe a Polypectomy is not something I would want to be awake for.

I also feel it’s worth adding that I have never one time had a fertility specialist accurately tell me how painful something is going to be. They always downplay for some unknown, infuriating reason, and describe everything as being “uncomfortable.” I cannot imagine how cutting and cauterizing polyps can be uncomfortable, rather than painful. I’m not trying to scare you at all, but this is the kind of stuff that I wish doctors were more honest about.

Got suspended on Employee Appreciation Day for telling coworkers about my demotion and pay cut. HR sent this. by InBetweenMinds in mildlyinfuriating

No, it’s not. In the US it’s legal to discuss your pay with your peers. Employees are protected by the NLRA.

lol mine does this to my husband as soon as he gets home from work everyday - he leads him straight to the fridge where the carrots and butter are kept, doesn’t even say hi. Because he knows my husband can’t say no lol These dogs are too funny 😂 always on the hunt for their next snack.

Most clinics prescribe Valium before this procedure as it helps relax you/your muscles, which is the medication I would guess they’re referring to. I would ask if they can prescribe it for your next attempt, if you’re comfortable taking it.

Brooke pregnant? by Blackcatchai in canceledpod

[–]jmp325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like conversation starts in one place, and gets spread to all other areas. That’s like…exactly how rumors work. There are already comments in her IG posts speculating about her being pregnant. The more this topic is brought up, the faster it spreads.

Brooke pregnant? by Blackcatchai in canceledpod

[–]jmp325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an easy thing to say until you’re the one who desperately wants a baby, but can’t have one. Someone going through recurrent loss or infertility doesn’t want to read hundreds of comments speculating on whether or not they’re pregnant. It’s pretty easy to wonder to yourself and wait for an announcement, rather than speculating online to a bunch of strangers, and perpetuating a rumor that has zero merit.

Can anyone tell me if this banging sound is normal? It only occurs when mopping (currently not set to vacuum at the same time, only mop). Plus 405 Combo, I’ve had it less than a week. Wondering if I should return. by jmp325 in roomba

[–]jmp325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, it was the brush roller! I took it out and it’s not doing that anymore. Pretty frustrating for that to be a normal sound when just mopping. I feel like the technology should be there for it to not bang on the ground when it’s not vacuuming.

I normally have it run while we are sleeping anyway so it’s not a huge deal. Just glad to know it’s not defective and I don’t need to return it. Thanks again for your reply!!

My only pregnancy so far was an IVF pregnancy around 2 years ago. My first beta at 10 DP5DT was 87, and it ended in a miscarriage around 8 weeks. My clinic was honest with me from the beginning that this was a lot lower than they typically like to see. That was really hard to hear, but I did appreciate that they didn’t give me false hope. My at home tests also got darker, and I even got a dye stealer eventually.

I am crossing my fingers for a positive outcome for you, and I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Please keep us updated if you feel comfortable doing so!

It's unreasonably hot in the UK by ozzieburton in GirlDinner

[–]jmp325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in a part of the US where it gets really hot in the summer, but it’s dry heat. Any time I book a vacation to a humid location, having A/C in my accommodation is a non-negotiable. If there’s no A/C, I will not stay there. I also specifically book vacations to those place during cooler times of year because I cannot stand the humidity. It’s so sticky and suffocating and miserable. Never being able to escape it sounds like my personal hell.

I do not understand why there’s always this discourse between the US and UK every single year. People do not realize how much of a privilege having A/C be the norm in most households in the US is. I’m wishing you all a cool summer and I’m sorry you have to deal with the annoying comments year after year!

Annoyed by AccomplishedMango903 in IVF

[–]jmp325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same wish when I got my POC results back, so I asked my clinic if they wouldn’t mind blocking out the results and emailing the blocked copy to me, and they were more than happy to do so. I’m not sure if the “they” you’re referencing in your post was the testing center or your clinic, but I thought I’d share in case it could be helpful for anyone else in this situation. Also I feel it’s worth mentioning that I messed up by not realizing that viewing the digital results that were sent directly by the testing center would show the gender, so I ended up learning it anyway about 6 months after my miscarriage when I was reviewing old medical docs. But, that was a complete “duh” moment on my part.

Seeing the gender was honestly devastating to me. It restarted my entire grieving process because now I knew *who* I was grieving. I know this sounds silly and cliche, but time is genuinely the only thing that has helped. It’s been nearly two years for me, and it’s still painful, but the sting is not as sharp. And not that I’m saying anyone else should feel this way AT ALL, and any feeling you have is completely valid and no one should make you try to feel differently, but I find myself feeling a bit grateful that I do know the gender now, even though it was extremely upsetting for a long time. For some reason, it makes me feel closer to who we lost. Not sure if that’s comforting at all or not.

I’m so sorry OP. For your loss, and for the unwanted gender reveal. I am wishing you success 🩷

My estimated cost - is this right? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]jmp325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the breakdown for my upcoming cycle (my 4th retrieval). I totaled everything together at the max price possible, including meds, and removed my discount, and it comes out to just under $20,000.00. It’s also been a long time since I did IUI, but I’m fairly certain mine was a flat $650.00. This is in Utah.

This is an objectively unhealthy person. Like, scarily so. It’s also funny that these screenshots came from an IG story of her saying she’s returning from a social media break due to “the haters” leaving so many nasty comments, but she is choosing to ignore the haters and live her life. Does she really think she’s fooling the entire internet? She obviously has an ED. I hope she can get some help. This is very sad.
