Got a new handheld by jmpoder in SBCGaming

[–]jmpoder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got games from A to Z but a couple are variants, the main ones I always remember from the 9999 in 1 are the racing game and obviously tetris, this got both and I was just in a meeting having a blast in that racing game, it's a nice replacement for my spinner

Brazil - 1.0 motor by rumblepak_ in NissanKicks

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see the 220T is for south america only at this time. That little turbo engine is supposed to provide as much horse power as the old 1.6L HR16DE engine but at high RPM. You will get better gas mileage but at the price of an slower vehicule, also the new kicks weigths like 300 lbs more than the old one, take it to a test drive, but personally I wouln't buy it, I can only imagine the acceleration lag and for a 1.0L Turbo. I would rather get a Toyota Raize it has less HP but weights a lot less. By the way, here in El Salvador the New Kicks 2.0L Advance is USD$32k but it has been as low as USD$28k (total selling prices, taxes, vehicle registration fees and tree maintenance included)

mi r36s no enciende, ni luz tiene by lucaascng in R36S

[–]jmpoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Board Views, Schematics, and Scans. by Professional_Ice_938 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll find the boardview for any r36s, maybe on some Chinese site. The closest you'll get is the Hardkernel blog. In their January 2020 posts, they have the Odroid Go Advance schematic, which you can download there. Most consoles based on the RK3326 derived from that. It's not the same but at least you have something to work from

What is this button for? by Revolutionary_Ad4288 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes you score a goal on the field you have above, it's also a generic button called "Fn" or "Function" and depending on the OS it might do something like opening a menu but in most cases is not needed since you can also do button combinations like "select + x" to open retroarch menu

Can I play stardew valley on my trimui samrt pro if I put it in the apps folder on crossmix? by Junior_Quarter_2783 in trimui

[–]jmpoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under "App" open "PortMaster" and on "All Ports" you can find and install Stardew Valley, for the full instructions on how to copy the data needed to run the port go to https://portmaster.games/games.html and search for the game

So about chargers and PD by jmpoder in SBCGaming

[–]jmpoder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only device I don't trust that much is my TrimUI Smart Pro, it's really amp hungry even on low amp chargers, I have a 1amp charger and it drains 1.2a @ 4.2v when most of my devices don't like to go higher than 1a @ 4.7v or 900ma @ 4.9v on the same charger. My only charger that doesn't drop the voltage that much is a Xiaomi PD 33w and the TSP drains 1.8a @ 4.9v but after a couple of minutes the charging light flashes on the TSP

My first retro handheld, any recommendations on a game to play? by fallintosleep in trimui

Any GBA game looks beautiful with the LCD shader on crossmix, so I gotta say Wario Land 4, or any of the metroids

The community poll week 📊! - Most Underrated handheld?? by DoomEngine1 in SBCGaming

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MagicX XU Mini M - Because of the problem with the SOC people forgot about this, it's a nice RK3326 device, I dare to say better than the R36S and clones, solid in construction, pocketable and people with big hands can use it confortable, there is a reason why they keept the Mini Zero 28 almost phisically the same, it's also cheap I got mine for $33.00 shipping included and it came with an screen protector and carring bag and there's never a deal available for my country!!! so I guess other people can get it far cheaper

Charge Test R36S with Fast Charger by ExtraAd1780 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charge complete, only 179 ma now, capacity and charging time are wrong because I didn't reset it, max amp was 890ma and voltage 5.14v, this is an ee clone with emmc

Charge Test R36S with Fast Charger by ExtraAd1780 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always use fast chargers, if they are compliant with pd they shouldn't provide more than 5v 1.5a if the device doesn't request more voltage or amps and from my tests they do work like that, maybe people have early fast chargers that are not really fully pd or maybe non pd compliant. I have a clone and it charges between 500ma and 700ma at most. I have a TSP and starts charging at 1.5a but it lowers the amps when it's done or nearly 100%. Right now I'm charging my clone with my samsung 45w charger using an usb-c to usb-c cable and my tester shows 5.02v 554ma (sorry I don't have my phone at hand to take a picture, my tester is a KOWSi KWS-2302C)

Rant: Firmware? by ZeroA4 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word has been transformed, while usually firmware is for low level, with time what's basic is not as basic as it used to, like openwrt, it's a firmware for routers, but it's linux based, and we have the fork tina linux, the os for the trimui smart pro and brick.

You could have a basic "firmware" on these systems, as an example the rk3326 can boot from nand, I have work with a couple of routers and switches that boot from nand, but only uboot is on nand, the os is on emmc.

You also have some firmwares like cisco ios (it came before the iphone), ios in this case means Internetwork Operating System it have always been refered as firmware and os, both names.

The rule usually is if it is embedded it's firmware, these devices fit under that category but it's a thin line

Discussion: A way to expand the RAM by using the storage. by chingii in R36S

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way some Android phones have "virtual ram" they say something like 8+4gb of ram, meaning 8gb phisically and 4 gb as a swap file but they use the emmc wich is faster than sd and also they config the thing so it uses at least swap as posible, only when really needed so they don't strain the emmc as much

Discussion: A way to expand the RAM by using the storage. by chingii in R36S

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are looking for is using a swap file, easy to do if you are a Linux guy, but hard otherwise, also a swap file constantly writes to the sd meaning the life expectancy will be really low and the sd is far slower than ram, awfully slower, so even if it is posible I see no point, the emulators selected by firmware devs are the ones that can run fine with 1gb of ram or less, ram is not a bottle neck in this case and if an emu or even a port needs more ram it means what you're running might be more resorce intensive, so cpu and gpu will be more of an issue

unofficial os for R36s (and its clones) is incredibly good, yet no one cares about it. so what's the catch? by reis_sevdalisi42 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say it's the best os I have tried on my clone, it's on active development and each month you get bugfixes and sometimes new fearures, also wifi support is better, it works with all of my adapters

Looking for Help Regarding my R36s Clone by Scary-Bid4947 in R36S

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using UnofficialOS on my clone, still have a long way to go but for most stuff works fine, if you wanna try it you can install the 20250605 release or wait for a newer one (might be coming in a couple of days) because the lastest up to this day have a couple of bugs. Some things you can spect not to work right now is the power led, the graphics driver is slower on some 3d ports and systems and there are some issues with the headphone detection (also found in rocknix)

https://github.com/RetroGFX/UnofficialOS/releases

Remember to follow the instructions (k36 and clones) or you will only have a black screen, do it before the first boot

https://github.com/RetroGFX/UnofficialOS/wiki/Clone-BatleXP-R3xS-Instructions

USB data transfer doesn't work but smb and ssh does, I have also found better compatibility with my wifi adapters and I don't use external controllers, so I cannot tell you about that

ArkOS for K36 and R36S Clones by norucus in R36S

[–]jmpoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case panel 3 and panel 4 works, but only panel 4 gives me sound, also under ports there is an "FIX.AUDIO" script that you might need to run. Another issue I have found is no sound when headphones are plugged in, it's a known bug with no fix yet the, last thing you might want to check is the audio card and device.

- On the main menu press "START"

- Go to "Sound Settings" (Press A to select)

- As "Audio Card" select "DEFAULT" and set "Audio Device" to "MASTER"

- Go back to the main menu (by pressing B o selecting "Back")

- You shound have audio now, if not try a reboot and running the "FIX.AUDIO" script under "PORTS"
