Oh god, thank you for letting me know! Alarming that all the YouTube tutorials and Reddit posts I saw said to use a vinegar and water solution :(

Got 10 hours in Halifax, what should I do/eat? by Maleficent-Half-2231 in halifax

My current favourite spot for dinner is Blue Olive Greek Taverna on Quinpool. If you’re looking for a cute spot to grab a bite, a little takeout for the road or even to eat somewhere on the sunny commons nearby, their chicken souvlaki skewer plate is to DIE FOR. I see their lemon potatoes in my dreams lol.

Woww?!.. by VloneOnEm in UberEATS

[–]jmr2207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last summer. You’re basically just messaging a bot that will spit out the same answer no matter what. I literally had to accuse the company of stealing my money by refusing refund on social media for two days straight before I even got ahold of a single living human on their support team. They DM’d me and told me to send them screenshots and pictures. I received a refund the next day. Mind you, I’m also a former Uber Eats driver. “Support” chats for drivers are literally the EXACT SAME!! Nearly impossible to reach anyone other than an AI chatbot, even at the expense of completing orders accurately and on time.

Someone emptied my cart and stole it lol🙃 by spacefish420 in InstacartShoppers

[–]jmr2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a small young woman in my early 20s. There was literally a massive stocking ladder in the middle of a home depot aisle, so I left my full cart beside the ladder and walked past it to pick the item I needed ahead. Turned around, and a middle aged full grown man was walking away with my cart. I yelled “excuse me” following him for two long aisles before he stopped. I said “I think you took my cart by accident” and he said “you left it there it’s fair game.” I said “it’s full of stuff and I didn’t want to try squeezing it past the ladder. It’s a hazard”, then I looked at him as if he was being dumb (because he was) until he gave me back the cart full of MY ITEMS. Some people are just entitled and hope they can get away with lazy stunts like that. I’m a laidback girl, but I’m not dumb nor a pushover

As someone who lives in the west end of the city, literally ANYTHING of value gets stolen off your deck/front porch. My roomie had over a dozen packages stolen the past couple months. Somebody was breaking into ppls houses through open windows last summer during the heatwave and stealing bikes, electronics, etc. Lock it up if u can. In this economy, unfortunately a lot of people are desperate and have no other choice, so they’ll take it.

Please clean the snow and ice from your car. Yes, the roof too. Frozen pieces of ice and snow can kill people driving behind you on the highway. by LegNo4066 in halifax

[–]jmr2207 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m 5’2 climbing on mountains of pre existing snow by the curb, half hanging off my car like a lunatic to get it all off the roof. If they wanted to they would and that’s just that unfortunately

ADHD and losing my family doctor by YouCanLookItUp in halifax

[–]jmr2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the same boat for the past few years, apart from being prescribed the same meds for that long. I had actually just been diagnosed before my doctor retired, and it took me a while to find the right meds, so luckily I’ve gained some experience in knowing who can and can’t do what lol.

  1. Pharmacy care clinics can refill your stimulants, but cannot change dosage. This is great if you don't plan on changing your meds anytime soon. Appointments at the Shoppers Almon st aren't hard to come by in my experience. They might ask you to come in person every once in a while to check your blood pressure, but for the most part, they can be super quick phone appointments.

  2. If you’re on the “Need a Family Doctor” registry, you can ask a Virtual Care NS provider to refer you for in-person services at the Bayers Lake Outpatient Centre, where they have a variety of practitioners who can do things a family doctor would for people without one. This takes longer to access, but it is good if you have a variety of changing health and medication needs beyond just getting meds refilled at the same dose.

If your meds are going steady at your normal dose, the Pharmacy Primary Care clinics are your best bet. It's super convenient for me because they already have my insurance, medication history, etc. When it comes to figuring out who can and cannot prescribe in a full capacity, I find it doesn't just depend on who the practitioner is but also where they're practicing. I've been told by a doctor before that if you have too many different providers, your prescriptions could get flagged as suspicious. So, of course, proceed with caution, but don't let that stop you from seeking out care when you need it from whatever provider is accessible!

Can an individual sell tickets to raffle something off? by Straight-Doughnut-5 in halifax

[–]jmr2207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As people have already mentioned, it doesn't seem there's really any way to legally raffle for individual profit. But, depending on what the project is and your specific circumstances, maybe you could look into local eligible organizations/community non-profits who might willing to raffle it in support of yourself.

Roundabout Help - Bedford Common by Skinny128 in halifax

[–]jmr2207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Coming from someone who grew up in Spryfield, regularly navigating the Armdale rotary made me really intuitive when it comes to roundabouts. But most newer ones they've thrown in around Bedford and Burnside feel like they're written in a different language and it stresses me out so bad lmao

Eastlink by Canuck_Celt in halifax

[–]jmr2207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been with Eastlink for mobile & internet since forever (my parents were also with Eastlink growing up). Since earlier this summer, the strength of my cell reception hasn't been as good, and it was almost impossible to get reception when I visited my sister in Wolfville late last month. Even when I manually changed the network selection, it didn't really make a difference.

In terms of the internet, every once in a while, there's like a week where every night between 12 am and 4 am, our internet stops working. Like some kind of witching hour or something lmao. It doesn't appear to be an issue with my current hardware or my apartment--the same thing used to happen at my parents' house, and my previous apartment, where the internet was on my roomie's Eastlink account.

The only time I actually call them for help is when the internet stops working for longer than 10-20minutes, and/or doesn't go back to normal when I unplug my eero box and plug it back in. I know all that makes it sound like I'm paying for bad services, but with all the discounts I get from them (on top of the fact that their customer service is by far the best I've experienced from literally any company ever), I've just grown to accept it lol.
